Have you seen his own tweets? I'm not partaking into this socialmedia warfare, just not my thing. I do watch it tho.
But oh boy does he seem to go out of his way to provoke everyone. He puddles the whole FFXIV, anime, japan, "weeb" culture into one pot and attacks. He is hardly the victim.
Ya I have, many of the things he does is a act or persona (maybe?) for streaming. My stance is that, do we really want to sink that low because the guy acts like a moron? Like, it just feels wrong to me to get so offended.
It wasn't a "dislike". He got caught blatantly lying multiple times then called the game trash. If he had just said the story for ARR was slow so he wanted to boost probably most of the FF14 could sympathize with him.
The problem is when he boosted and had no clue what he was doing, became extremely toxic blaming his healer then used his platform to trash the MMO.
No, I get annoyed when people try to make an opinion about something and try to do it under the guise of he was making informed opinions or assertions to someone with a fairly large following, especially when his reviews will help to inform people other than himself about the game. This is why it is a problem. It's not even down to this game, but me making a general statement that it's a complete and apparent disingenuous thing to do. He didn't go into this with a clear or open mindset, he went in there with genuine and deliberate intent to try and dump on the game.So you get annoyed that someone is not fair to the game? Kinda silly thing to be annoyed about. Why does it matter? No offense, but the cult of FF14 is kinda weird and makes the community look bad when it can't just sit back and laugh at someone playing poorly and cries about game being bad. Instead they act like someone personal attacked them.
To me the community has a bigger ego than this guy.
It has little to do with the game itself and more on the basis of principle, is that difficult for you to understand? This has nothing to do with being part of a cult or trying to be a zealot. He's free to have his opinion to a large audience provided he's not trying to push himself across as though he's making a well-informed opinion, or at least an opinion formed on solid experience - Especially when in reality it is anything but informed. - Don't try and critique something when you have little idea or experience with what exactly it is you're critiquing.

While I find it okay to discredit his claims of things he has not really experienced in the game, I do agree that anything beyond that is unnecessary because it only adds fuel to the flame and falls back to the FFXIV community. This makes us look bad.
But Asmon already said it and I agree with that statement. The vocal community that goes out of their way to attack someone are the absolute minority, however they do make it appear like they speak for everyone which is just not true.
I can see how he is fun to watch raging and claiming to be the best at everything he does. There are people that enjoy it and he has been successful with that persona. He didn't give the game a real chance it's not his cup of tea and he should've just quit.
It was his dicision however to make a dishonest review about things he knows nothing about even his mods told him to just leave it alone.
I'll have to circle the day on my calendar, I agree with PuremallaceIt wasn't a "dislike". He got caught blatantly lying multiple times then called the game trash. If he had just said the story for ARR was slow so he wanted to boost probably most of the FF14 could sympathize with him.

I'm cynic enough to think the whole drama is staged/intentional. Had he simply say 'I don't like FF enough to keep playing it' nobody would've cared, because even many of us who like the game had that same first impression once or even a few times before getting hooked up onto it, but he just did the very thing people were afraid Asmon would do - get on the hype train, boost, get carried, and trash on the game which he literally skipped 90% of its content as if it were objectively bad - that is what set people off, and of course WoW stans just go xIv PlAyERs CaN't TaKe CrITiCisM! because they're so used to hating their own game that they literally can't comprehend why people get upset of such blatantly disingenuous claims.
The dude became what we thought Asmondgold was going to be: he failed to learn a class properly and boosted it, skipped story, then expects to know how to do higher end content. The zealously here is annoying, so quin didn't like the game or play it the way you think he should of, so what? It's his time on the line not yours.
I like BDO yet I know for sure many many people do not like it and that's fine it's not for everyone, people should just chill out instead of getting super defensive.
I have had friends before who tried XIV, didn't like it. No problem, game isn't for everyone's tastes. But they at least tried to learn their job.
Is this the guy who bought the boosts and then complained or said the story sucks and he sucks at the game in general? Sounds like some sore loser to me.
We've always had bad players. Boosting didn't change anything because someone unwilling to learn at 40 isn't going to magically care at 80. Plenty of people have boosted and learned how to play properly. They simply weren't interested in the story. In fact, some of the most prominent FFXIV streamers skip every cut scene.Honestly, SQEX should remove boosts from players who didn't completed the story once on the account. Boost is clearly for alts but since they introduced those, we got really bad players that would simply boost then quit the game because they did not learned the very basics.
Boosts are basically paying SQEX do you aren't pressing escape half a billion times.
