That trainwreck of a stream was a sight to behold. People should lay off on him, but at least we were given the beauteous bounty of the "healers pls" meme.

That and I don't think a rebellious mod will ever not be funny.

All of that aside, I think I see the problem here. His criticism of the msq is pretty spot-on with the game having very trivial (not easy— trivial) gameplay for an extended period, and the attempted solution of a boost was a decent alternative— if he had done his homework.

This is a situation that might have been salvaged if he weren’t streaming, since he was pressured to know too much with too little preparation. With a direct boost and basic rotation just MSQ questing would be a viable option, but to jump into extreme he’d need to be able to play at a 70 extreme level. That includes understanding how his job’s rotation works (without concentrating on the rotation), how this game handles telegraphs (and how they might appear to lie), and a basic idea of how this game’s roles and jobs function differently than other games he’s played.

To do all of this would have taken several days. The best he could handle with the preparation he had made was probably a grand tour of the normal and hard mode trials starting from titan normal and running up all the way to Shinryu. He might need to repeat one or two to nail basic game mechanics and to not be a straight carry.

And he needs a bit of humility not to blame his healers or the game when it’s his unfamiliarity with the game that’s at fault.

Perhaps he’ll give the game another go; I can only hope he sees this somehow. But I’d strongly suggest he try this out offstream until he’s comfortable enough to make his debut. That and if he’s going to criticize the story, at least spend some time watching some cutscenes first— the leadup to sastasha is hardly enough to get a gauge on the seven hundred quests that follow.
