So instead of dealing with 10 players you have to deal with 500+ sounds wonderful. Wish you luck and some will win but I predict we'll see tons of threads of unhappy people when the time comes. One has to wonder too if one can enter a lottery on more than one house at a time or if you'll be relegated to only one lottery at a time. If multiples are allowed it'll sure give those with lots of money an advantage.

Best time for new house acquisition is with new wards but given the expected influx of new players from WOW in particular and the new xpac in general the demand upon release with 6.1 for houses day one will be enormous. I remember the strain when 4.2 hit with many experiencing disconnects and this should be significantly worse.

We don't know the details yet about the release and who will have first access of it it'll just be a free for all but it won't be pretty I don't think unless there are significantly more wards added everywhere than most are expecting.

While not perfect, things have been slowly going in the right direction.

Adding the timer was the lesser of two evils. As annoying as they are, at least it limits plot flipping to an extent, but they didn't go far enough. By allowing transfers, better plots can still be 'sold' to people with less desired plots.

The timers however have their own problems that will, to an extent, be dealt with by the lottery system, but because the lottery system is only applying to SOME wards for some reason it's once again a half measure that won't entirely address the issue. But at least people will have a choice to just focus on lottery wards I guess?

What they ought to do is implement the lottery system into every ward, including transfers and new purchases both.

As for how many people use clock bots, even if the number were zero the timer system would still be flawed and the lottery system will still be a better alternative to making people stand around for hours clicking, because if they don't someone else will instantly snatch up the plot and you'll essentially never have a chance.

The idea solution would be to add enough plots, or a separate instanced housing system EVERYONE has access to, but I don't expect that to happen. The population influx is going to make keeping up with plots even more difficult and I don't know if their servers could actually handle giving every character an instanced house. Even if it was say, limited to level 90+.

I'm glad the lottery element is being added, but only in so much that it's going to stop what, imo, is exceptionally unhealthy and emotionally taxing behaviors and events. For people to sit there and pray at a placard for many hours on end, to the point you might consider it a health hazard, and then lose it. That's just... no.. nah... Can't have that. imo. To the level that I feel some people might permanently have had their experience of the game ruined, and such that losing to RNG will just be like "ARRGG" vs "I'm going to throw my computer out the window" lol.

I /expect/ that RNGeus is going to piss some people off, but I think the alternative makes this better. Doesn't mean all issues are solved, pack it up we're done, just that this devil is better than the other devil.

We'll always have these issues until there is instanced housing, and by that I mean housing that is able to meet the demand of every player. If not this game I hope they can realize that in the next mmo, it's potentially such a cool system with massively diverse potentials. Rather than the 4 areas we have now, games that go instanced allow you a huge array more of potential creativity (and there are systems that don't kill neighborhoods either, Wildstar had one, or you could potentially have a mix of physical and instanced if you wanted a bit of both worlds as which is the system I suggest these days as I don't want to kill a system others may enjoy).

Although I do think that some players may potentially become quite pleased with Sanctuary, if it is what I'm thinking it is - might have some homely / home base like elements, I kind of hope there is some progression and progression related to a few structures as well (like we see the windmill in the concept art). There is an opportunity to be in what one may compare to like an Assassins Creed homestead or maybe Garrisons (although one would hope if they looked at Garrisons, which I'm fine if they did, that A. they don't abandon the content like Blizzard did, and B. they noted some of the things Blizzard struggled with such that FFXIV just plainly does it better). It might be smart to include some furnishing slots in this system too, even if it's not technically fully a house or what have you (like 20 slots of outdoor furnishings) or whatever amount allows players to slap down some of their seasonal items they earn occasionally (or maybe seasonal events will come with 'kits' that can redocrate). Allowing players to connect their apartment room to the content could be a very neat effect, or at least have an inn room like option.

Anyway, back on track.. lol, so we've the lottery system incoming and to discuss the FIFO system suggested (first in / first out) - I think the problem there is you'd have bots or whatever have you people queue and queue and queue and queue. To the point that a new player joins the game and it's like "12,000 years before it's your turn". Which again isn't me saying I prefer RNG to dictate this, but that RNG can give people hope and freedom from the nightmare I've seen described by placards, and still works against the whole reselling market. Some people wonder why we had placards but before them reselling was rampant, VERY, rampant, except for locations that were deemed uninteresting lol (Goblet for whatever reason has low desires, I think it's cute but.. maybe just me). Like choosing to get stung by a bee or getting stung by 10 wasps. One might think "neither", but then you do neither and it's being stung by 12 bullet ants.
