Frustrating inventory and item stacking, design(?)

I can't be the only one that is annoyed by this. Why can't we have 1 button that puts everything from our bag in our retainers inventory and stack everything. A game shouldn't be frustrating, but sitting there pressing "Search for item" on every item, to know if my retainer have something that i have in my inventory is annoying and frustrating. It's 2021 and i'm almost sure any other MMO have a better way to handle inventory, than this game.. it's sad, since it's a good game apart from this.

And don't tell me to keep items sorted in retainers inventory etc etc, especially not when you already pay to play the game, and then you have to pay even more because the inventory and "bank" system is crap and they almost force you to pay for it, just to "solve" the problem or make your life a bit easier.

I want to play and enjoy the game, not sitting in town clicking icons.

Please fix this, ASAP. This shouldn't even need to be a discussion, it should already be IN the game. How come it isn't?, game designers?

It's hard to say how retainer/inventory actually works here! Probably another case of 'spaghetti code'.

The main reason I'm replying is to tell you that additional retainers aren't needed at all. Really :P

I agree tho, the current system is weird but manageable!

I struggle to understand. Why would you want to put everything from your bag into your retainers storage at once? In 8 years I've quite literally never wanted or needed to do that. Having played many a game with many a different inventory systems this one is flawed yes, but it's actually one of the more powerful systems if you choose to use the tools provided. I'd rather the give us a "Pass All" option instead..

And this is why they won't do anything about their stupid inventory / retainer system, i don't get it why people are defending game devs / designers. I'm sure alot of people are quiting the game because of this stupid inventory and retainer system, i was close to doing that aswell, and i would have if i haven't had friends that were playing this game. Let people be able to quickstack if they want to, some people aren't like you and want to sort everything, decide which retainer should have what, etc.. i play the game to play it, not to sit in town sorting items.. i'm forced to do it aswell, since if i don't do it.. all loot that drops just disappear since my bags are full.. atleast other MMO's send the stuff to your mail.

Like i said, not everyone is the same, let people that want to play the game and not put time into inventory and retainer management do it. If i go out and gather and get back to town, i just want to hit the bell and be able to quickstack my items from my bags onto the retainers that have the items in their inventory already.. why should it be slow, frustrating and tedious?. I don't get it why you call it powerful either, it's nothing powerful with it at all.. this system feels like something in the 90's. Atleast give me some way to fix this issue, if i don't like it the way it is. Wouldn't it be good to have addons that fixed all the problems that people are having?

There are 30,794 items in the game and you have 175 inventory slots on each retainer.

And don't tell me to keep items sorted in retainers inventory etc etc,

That's exactly what we're going to tell you because that's the right answer. You cannot get away with not managing your inventory properly.

I guess i'm not right to have an opinion then, just because you like it the way it is, doesn't mean i need to like it the way it is.. I'm just saying that the system is old, annoying, stupid and tedious. From someone that have played WoW since 2006, the inventory and retainer system is a big issue, i bet you are used to it.. and fine if you like to waste your time, it's all up to you. I'm just saying that this is a problem with the game, and people that have played WoW for example might quit and not give the game a chance because of this stupid system. It's not a big task to add something that makes your life a bit easier, and if they add it you don't even have to touch it.. keep sticking to your stone age inventory system. I thought the FFXIV community was better than this, but i guess i was wrong.. let people tell their thought and address the issues they are having instead of acting this way when they want to improve the game.

I'm out, you guys keep defending the game and the devs, and i'm sure by doing that, it will get improved some day

Agree, inventory management is quite bad and needs a lot of improvements. I wish i could sit down on a Teams/Zoom call with a dev to talk/explain it.

I would like to see the items with sorting options. Also, this will be nice if they add features like the examples below.

All to retainer, or player....
Food
Reagent
Materia
Weapon (only by jobs)
Armor (only by type)
Accessories (only by type)

It takes time sorting them out when the items in the inventory are mixed.
