GW2 has a great option for ground target skills that allow you to place an aoe on button up instead of having to press the button twice. I'd love to see XIV bring that kind of functionality over here.

MOBA have this sort of stuff under smart casting, it's so useful!
If you have a dash for example you might just tap it and go the way you were facing, meanwhile if you held it you could redirect the dash to a way you're not facing. Confident it would be super helpful for most people if they could implement it.
You might be able to reasonably add depth to skills too like dancer you may be able to hold it for a sec so it loads the marker (arrow) where you could dash not your facing direction and also choose the distance for example (do a half dash).
Heck if they improve button functions they may be able to add new concepts in general, like holding dash button may increase the distance over a 2 second period so you could have some like hyper dash. Might even be able to add the other way, like holding black mage aoe lightning lets you place it, but tapping it would be target as usual. Ninja blink, mouse outside of distance you can target? That's fine, it'll go max distance that direction- easy peasy!
They've other combo keys like being able to cast an ability at your feet, instead of target / mouse.
Not exactly related but I've though abilities you could use while stunned / in action could be neat too, like a self heal would be obvious, in WoW pvp you could use them to unstun yourself, but also you might get like a black mage spell where you could then weave in this other spell at the same time of casting (have to be careful or it would be super insane on the fingers lol, but could potentially be neat).
