Mentors being toxic to new players

This is my first time talking in the forum, but I think this should be mentioned.

After the big influx of new players, I kept noticing a lot of mentors who were very unwelcoming and unfriendly to sprouts and other players.

Those mentors that I'm talking about casually drop things like "go back to wow" and don't give advice to new players. Now, first and foremost, I'm not from WoW, I've never played WoW in my life and currently don't plan to do so. However, that doesn't excuse this kind of gatekeeping behaviour to new players.

I recently did E9 Normal - had a lot of new players in it. I'm not a mentor, I simply did it for Wondrous Tails. We had 2 mentors and two experienced healers. One of the mentors played DRK and let the newbie tank. The newbie kept dying, no problem, right? So one of the healers gave an advice to look out for the boss's hands in order to see where the next aoe will be.

After a tedious fight, we managed to kill it. However, the mentors kept saying that the healers didn't healed "enough" and should have hard rezzed everyone whenever they died. I said that they shouldn't give such advice and the first thing they responded was "go back to wow". The same thing happened a few days later in a dungeon with another mentor, who left after being upset with the newbies damage, when confronted said "go back to wow".

Sorry but...I don't think such people should represent mentors nor experienced players. It's beyond me how people like that are in charge of looking out and helping new players. Especially with this amount of toxicity against sprouts.

Hi, i'm sorry for your bad experience. Not every mentor or every player is like this. Most of the community is friendly and most important: helpful.

Anyways: your posting is on the german side in the forum. If you want to discuss about this, you better post it in the english forum
Hope you still have fun playing the game. Wish you all the best.

    Cheers, Toshic.

Welcome in the german board : )

Some few mentors are able to help other players. But to be honest here, most mentors are rude, not skilled and pretty arrogant. They flood the newcomer-chat with nonsense smalltalk or making fun of other people. They use their "power" to spread misinformation among new players and they are mostly those people who neither pay attention in a fight or doesnt know how to play their own class properly. There may be exceptions of course, but most players got bad experiences with mentors.

You will find more (and better) help in the official forum (here) or in one of the city states.
