I watch a streamer called Violentdestruction who happens to do mentor roulettes on the stream.

Never ever never have I seen him leave the duty when he gets Extreme trials. What I doooo see is him bashing his head against the preverbal wall until timeout or the echo carries the party across the finish line. I felt so bad for this poor man when he spent one hour attempting to assist sprouts clear Rathalos EX who just refused to read the chat. One fricken hour helping complete strangers who could not stop rapid pulling long enough for the man to explain anything.

His streams gave new perspective on mentors and what they sometimes go through. I did not treat them badly before but I am more understanding when they seem exhausted or feisty.

It'd be nice if Mentor roulette only had the current expansions Extreme trials in it. I've got all the macro's and can teach the ShB fights with no issues, but I only partially remember the SB extremes and long since forgotten how to do the HW ones synced.

Yeah I was thinking about how the success rates on clearing extremes would be in mentor roulette if everyone uses a collective text macro for all the old extremes you can get.

So people don't spend minutes explaining they just keep a few macros for the fight.

Wouldn't fix the facepullers but it is an interesting avenue.

Most mentors only pull out mentor roulette for giggles when they’re bored due to the laughable rewards. The achievement mount can take months to complete, so there’s just no point in focusing it.

This is also why it’s so easy for them to just peace out when they get Praetorium or an extreme; no need to stick around for an hour for 10 tomestones.

The penalty for leaving is less than the penalty for staying.

I apologize to all the mentors I made carry me through the ARR extremes back when I was a sprout. I didn't know about party finder back then or that I would be able to solo unsync them when I was a higher level.

The Mentors in this Thread should stop being such big babies themselves and not just blame anything that goes wrong to the new kid(s) arround the block. People can and will make mistakes and it IS your responsibility as a Mentor, to help them to the best of your abilities. If you dont like it, then stop being one.

Mentor Requirements should be alot higher than they currently are, since the amount of bad Mentors is just as bad as the amount of "bad players" they are suppoest to cater to.

No, it's not our job to teach a WHM to cast stone in EX content.

(Which btw, if you think about it, implies them improving is something pretty great so indirectly boosting their own self worth by believing those ultra noob casuals that never improve are a thing)

Increasing extreme rewards wouldnt be a bad idea at the start, but you know if they cant get their way and because they feel entitled to the rewards just like they feel entitled to quick roflstomp runs, in that case they ll start trying to kick everyone who doesnt listen to their superior advice and do exactly what they say, especially since they often fail to communicate appropriately and think they are somekind of leader that gets to command people so of course that attitude will piss people off which might decide to just troll them for their bad behavior.

When I qued for HW extremes even though we had wipes most of us really wanted to beat the boss so we got it down after a few wipes because we learned the mechanics better, everyone improved and beat it, that includes those sprouts and casual players who have no reason to keep failing mechanics since it becomes pretty clear what needs to be done, and there's no elitist going around attacking them or trying to command them.
I assume you're speaking from experience here? My dude, if you haven't set foot in Mentor Roulette, you'll never know how it is. If your assumption is correct, then why is it that Ex fights (except maybe Garuda, Ifrit, and Titan) have such low clear rates? Not to mention that there are some fights that are near impossible in DF. If people improved appropriately, why does the party still fail? It's because they don't. They make the same mistakes over and over and/or instapull and don't read chat. I don't expect people to clear in one go. Heck, I don't expect them to clear in under 30 minutes. And I do get that people make mistakes--we all do. But, dear God, you have no idea how those trials go in DF. My dude, we timed out in dungeons in Mentor Roulette, and that was even after we explained the mechanics.

Again, it's easy to judge from your high horse. Mentors help--they don't carry.

I don't think he even knows what mentor roulette is since he thinks we're queueing for extremes in duty finder. Just give him his straw, he'll quiet down.

Also something you and ralph are missing is that it's not that players don't improve it's that they're already gone after having failed one extreme and have moved on.
The reason you're getting put into an extreme from mentor roulette is because of someone new. There's a new kid on the block now so the circle of suffering anews.
And it's those people who either are facepullers or simply aren't ready for extreme.
