    Remove Extremes from Mentor Roulette

    >Title

I don't mind getting them every now and again, especially if people are willing to listen and we actually have a chance of clearing. I'm very patient when it comes to trying to help players with them, but it's more than a little frustrating when people just don't want to listen, and especially recently, that's more that 80% of my runs in them.

It's also extremely unfair that Binding Coils isn't in Mentor Roulette because a lot of the fights are 'too hard' for new players, when you can get Nidhogg Extreme no problem at all.

My proposal would be an Extreme roulette, since the word 'Expert' would fit nicely and it is taken, I suggest perhaps 'Challenge' Roulette as a name ?
It could include Extremes and maybe Coils in there too. This way there are still players doing them, and it'd solve a lot of the salty mentors as well, since 99% of the time a mentor is the first to leave in one of these parties, and I've had to report a couple for straight up being toxic / trolling in the roulette.

High rewards for a roulette like that would really entice players to do it.
Also adding a little warning to extreme fights the first time you queue for it that's like "this is hard content, beware !" would be good. Considering Bozja has that, it's not a hard thing to add, and would likely make players consider leveling up their playing skills or asking for help before stepping into the duty.

MSQ has a purpose. Getting sprouts through the story.

Extremes don't. They were supposed to be optional content.

Especially when some of those trials have multiple phases that have complex mechanics that can't be easily typed out. And with the sheer amount of extremes having macros for all of them isn't realistic.

My reason for removing them? Some of that content is over 5 years old now. No one should realistically be expected to teach that.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

I believe they ment remove MSQ(Castrum and Prea) from the mentor roulette not the MSQ roulette itself

I don't know the logistics around this, but yes. Down with MSQ Roulette!
Ironically enough, getting EX primals with randoms from Mentor Roulette is the very reason why I started to appreciate doing Main Scenario Roulette more, despite both Castrum and Praetorium having those unskippable cutscenes. Heck, I would prefer getting those two said long dungeons in Mentor Roulette than getting ANY EX Primal. At the end of the day, you either clear it or you don't. People may not always take your advice when you give it to them in higher-end content. It may get to the point where people might not even reach or get past the add phases in Extreme trials via Duty Finder.

I mean, having Extreme in the title should be a pretty good indicator.

Nah, when you're a sprout who's been able to get away with facerolling everything so far, even "hard" stuff, the word Extreme isn't very intimidating

The extreme version of a dungeon that lets you get away with afking and having everyone else carry your weight? Well must mean I have to not afk, that's pretty extreme.

People really don't understand the differences in difficulty between content until they get personal experience.

Like I remember, when I was in the home stretch of my initial experience of getting current, I was around the end of Stormblood, and I first heard about the Unending Coil of Bahamut. And my first thought was "Man, that would be pretty cool to clear, I'm gonna look forward to that". I had no concept of how hardcore that content even was.

Of course Extreme is many steps down from Ultimate, but I can definitely imagine that most players see extreme and don't expect too much going in. Especially since they just dealt with the jump from Normal difficulty to Hard and it's barely a jump at all, just more players.

edited first sentence because I didn't mean you specifically.
