This thread gave me a flashback to ocarina of time. Trying to make it to the castle before the skeletons popped out of the ground soon as night hit.

Maybe a dungeon like the Barheim pasage in FF XII
If the light go off, the undeads come out.
At night they bring back the fatigue system..
FFXI dev team did such a good job with the floating spirits of the dead in Gusgen Mines. Wandering through there is one of the few times I've ever been genuinely creeped out in a FF game.
Best part was that you couldn't fight them or anything. They were just there for atmosphere...
Nighttime ideas: (In addition to the normal nighttime mobs: Bats, Bogy, Skeletons, Zombies, etc.)
I) During a New Moon and/or Umbral weather, you might encounter ultra rare lvl 100 Ascian HNMs (not really killable). It should just fade in, kill any players they encounter and fade away. It also should be able to pass through terrain as well. People would freak...
II) An ethereal Phantom/Doom Train randomly travels the train tracks during full moon, but not fully materialized (like Atomos before we could fight him)... We could interact with it later as part of a mission
III) Doomgaze flying through the sky at night in a certain zone?
IV) Mandragora that are replaced at night by nightshade/alrune/pumkinhead/wild onion/etc..
V) Parties of bandits that randomly appear on roads away from towns/cities and attack players as they pass by (give them ranged weapons or spells to quickly dismount Players).
VI) Ghost Ship that travels the ocean at night. It could attack ferries in the same way that the one in FFXI did.
VII) Special elementals or spirits that roam around at night and have an extra wide magic aggro range.
VIII) Mobs that only spawn during daylight hours. Namely: Mandragora, Sheep, Dodos, Apkallu, Aldgoats, and Antelope.
IX) Mobs that change slightly at night: Glowing eyes on certain Rats and Wolves , Goobbue with Bioluminescent plants on their backs. Firefly swarms that light up at night, etc..

I would LOVE to see a ware wolf NM spawn only during a full moon too!
These would be really cool. That last idea would be really, really nice.Nighttime ideas: (In addition to the normal nighttime mobs: Bats, Bogy, Skeletons, Zombies, etc.)

I think it would be a good way to make diffrent zones unique :3
That sort of reminds me of the ladybugs in FFXI. During the day they wont attack but at night time they're aggressive. Not a bad idea ^^
