Lmao yeah. Man, what if it's just everyone worldwide hates everyone who lives under the clouded areas? lol.

I just wish they'd clear all the clouds out and let us see the world unhidden on the map, I'd even extend the map to where we could see mericydia and the new world.

The simple out-of-story issue is that they aren't using those locations yet and don't want to reveal or map them until they're ready to do so, because it locks them into geography that they came up with "just to put it on the map" several years ago.

What I wonder more is the size of the full world.

When we compare it with our world we have only seen Europe and Asia.
Are there any continents around the equator?
Can we go further east or west to find another continent?
What is south of the equator?
We have at least half the world still to explore and once we don't have a war to care about we can start exploring.

We do know, yes. The southern continent is Meracydia, which is mentioned/core to a lot of lore, especially regarding the Allagans (due to them invading and conquering). To the west of Aldenard is the New World, which is basically what the Americas would be on Earth. The Mamool Ja come from there (and Blue Magic, although that only gets named as such by the Eorzean trying to introduce it here), and there's a decent amount of trade in recent years thanks to Merlwyb finding a safe route.

Imagine when/if we finally get to go to Meracydia and they pull a Hunter x Hunter and reveal the 10+ years old exploring we did is like 1% of the full world size and Eorzea is this teeny tiny land in comparison.

I think someone has previously posted a wider map based on an "Earth from the Moon" shot that showed not only Meracydia (roughly Africa) but the edge of a would-be Australia as well?

I thought Eorzea was Africa and Meracydia was Australia. Ilsabard is Europe (which means yes, Garlemald is there), while Old Sharlayan is the British Isles.

Common misconception, it seems. But I've had to dispel that before because of the Equator line. Basically, both culture and climate-wise, Eorzea is above said line, with only Ul'dah, perhaps, being Northern African-equivalent: Its architecture being closer to Morocco than Southern African tribes and architecture (And Morocco is on the other side of Spain, connected by the "Columns of Hercules"). Because of Alexander the Great, most of Northern Africa is more Greek (although also Islamic) than what we'd commonly think as African (Cleopatra, for example, is of the Ptolemaic Dynasty, so she's actually GREEK and not Egyptian). (Also, Those countries I mention are also ABOVE the Equator line, with Africa being half above and half below it. Basically, for it to correspond to Fantasy-Africa: Gridania should have Ul'dah's climate and Ul'dah itself should be more lush like Southern Africa)

Meracydia is closer to Hydaelin Africa or Hydaelin Australia. If Iscah is correct, then Meracydia would be our Africa-equivalent and there's another Fantasy-Australia off somewhere. It's of note that, while the Garlean Empire is very based on Rome, the initial Eorzean Campaign was based on the invasion of the Greek City States by Persia.

People keep repeating this and there's really no resemblance to it besides the very loose shape of the continent and the fact that there's something between it and "Asia".

Turn your map of Europe sideways, maybe gather in some of northern Africa, and you've got a much better analogue. Norse-themed dragons in the northwest, large island nation off the west coast, peninsulas and islands off the east coast, Turkish-inspired Gyr Abania in the northeast. (This also explains why Eorzea's climate seems out of whack if you put too much thought into it, with Gyr Abania being well north of its apparent influence and seeming like it should be on the latitude of Ul'dah rather than Coerthas.

Meanwhile, though the Eorzean map seems loose in its real-world equivalent (whatever it is) Othard is more tightly overlaid to Asia, down to the mountain ranges – except Russia is missing.

If you assume the Bay of Yanxia is the Yellow Sea and cut a line from South Korea to Mongolia, the northern borders of Mongolia and Kazakhstan seem to follow the same shape as Othard's northern coast. It gets vague after that – the northern inlet seems to be the Caspian Sea but also covering some real-world dry land.

But the key thing is, Russia isn't there, and it's not attached to Eorzea either, so I'm expecting that it's been pushed off sideways to become Ilsabard, along with the remaining parts of the Middle East.

Also the few real-world things we know to be from Meracydia (aloe and sesame) are from Africa.
