So yes, if it was wanted it would have been done long ago.
TESO has the same zone transitions doesn't it? I could be wrong but afaik most mmos do the thing FFXIV does- TESO, GW2.

BDO sure has a big persistent world sort of like WoW... and it's masked by making you ride five minutes to get to another zone, there's numerous points where there's basically nothing between areas that have high pops (grinding spots or cities). I can't think of a game that is open world with no loading or masked loading.

WoW maybe- but there is loading between zones... and in areas where there are lots of players it either lags to a standstill or it phases people out- in retail people constantly complain about how the phasing causes nodes to vanish, players they're pvping against/playing alongside to vanish, mobs to vanish, etc... so sure, it's a 'persistent world' with no loads, but that's because it's constantly loading things in and out of the game to prevent load times/lag.

Would FFXIV players want to be heading to a fate, s hunt or a fight in Bozja only to have it vanish suddenly because they've been phased to prevent lag? Because that's how the big persistent WoW world is possible.
