Yeah I too wish they'd connect the 2.0 and 3.0 cities into one map. Kugane is super detailed and super big. So is the Crystarium, and 6.0 is coming with at least two more large highly detailed cities. The only limitation to recombine the 2 maps of the city-states is disposition of the staff to do it.
For some time I wish they'd convert some of the surrounding areas from ARR into one map as well (so for instance combining Central and Western Thanalan into one map). The "long tunnels/valleys" connecting them wouldn't bother me. Most people would fly or teleport anyway.
However, I don't trust the map designers to do it without ruining what makes ARR maps interesting. To me ARR areas still have the best overworld design, with detail and lore in almost every corner, unlike the maps from 3.0 onwards where you have an excessive amount of flat barren space with nothing of interest.
It would be really cool to see all of 2.0 combined into one zone, but this will require some new transition areas and also have to take flying into account.
(personally it would be cool to fly high into the sky while looking down on all of 2.0).
Same goes for Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers.
However I think that train left years ago, the game itself is about wrap up its main story and the devs. may not really have any real incentive to majorly redo some things.

To be fair, I prefer walking unless I'm doing literally the same trip three times in a row. Teleportation takes me out of the world. There's no point in removing loading screens when we just teleport everywhere. Removing loading screens wouldn't affect teleporting, it would affect walking from one zone to another which other than in a city, you only do while questing at the start of an expansion.
Even in a city, you can teleport around with the aethernet so we would still have loading screens. It's already been pointed out how fast teleporting actually is with an SSD, even by SE themselves who have a video of the load time on a PS5.
