No idea how this sort of thing works, but maybe they could add a world to the data centers that are overwhelmed? Would be less expensive than a whole new data center.

I thought Raubahn Ex was more a serious oversight on their part-- Thinking that it would be good to slap a solo duty on so early in the MSQ.

Garlemald tower!!? How did you even log in!?! I've been in the queue for weeks! I'm never logging out when I get in!!!!!
SE definitely has a really interesting and cool problem to have, but hopefully they are preparing for some dalamud class waves on their servers lol.

How about you calm down with the would be problems

Doubt it. It didn't happen with ShB and that was also before the new data centers. Aether, for instance, was incredibly unstable already having both Balmung and Gilgamesh at that point.

They're more likely to try other measures like the daily forced logout or the 30 minute logout timers before they resort to adding an additional server per DC, let alone another data center cluster in NA.
That said, there is going to be the issue of "What server moves to Oceania DC?" In the event that they do pull one or two of the NA servers to move to Oceania, they will probably also 1. add some newbie only servers to each data center cluster 2. Allow a free world transfer to any other server on the same data center, and so forth.
I vaguely remember this happening when the EU data center formally opened.
MMO expansion release without some server / login issues is just no fun, it is part of the charm. :P

They aren't gonna have a raubahn ex situation again because they learned their lesson. Shadowbringers avoided that scenario by splitting the beginning of the story between two completely different zones and not having any solo instances early on. This eased the server traffic and spread out how many people were running solo instances compared to Stormblood where everyone hit the first solo instance literally all at the same time.
I can see them having to figure out how to manage server traffic in the coming months, but they got time before Endwalker. Also another thing to consider is that many of the people flooding into the game currently are going to put it down before reaching the end of Shadowbringers. Statistically, most people don't finish the games they buy, so it's likely many of the current flood of newbies will either get bored or have their interest caught by any of the other many games coming out and put the game down.

Hell, now that I think about it, Heavensward did that too. I have no idea why Stormblood didn't.
