Dear, you look troubled...
Here's my advice.
About being troubled by things in the community, don't allow it to bother you cause you're playing the game for yourself first.
If someone makes the game unbearable to you, just avoid or blacklist them and continue enjoying the game you're paying for.
If you cannot handle what's happening in the forum, just avoid it for your own good, look at the majority of players enjoying the game with many not even knowing the forum exists.
The story has many more interesting things to show in the later expansions, unless you're simply having a burnout then you may just need some rest.
If you're bored of your current jobs, try new ones and if that doesn't work, take a break and see if you're interested later, a great part of this game it is that you can switch between all jobs on your one character.
Take care, relax and don't stress yourself too much.

The post-ARR quests were some of the most interesting stuff in ARR. You could replay it with New Game+.
What you see as a negative side to this game is a negative side to the internet as a whole, perhaps even to the world. It's easier to just focus on yourself instead of taking issue with how others want to spend their time.
Getting lost in the story is fine because it's meant to be confusing. The things that are confusing you will all be explained eventually and then all the nonsense you read in the past will make complete sense.
I don't know what you mean about the battle system. Perhaps you need to try a different class that you find more fun?
If you mean that it's not challenging, none of the required content is meant to be hard because it gets done by very casual players who can't do a simple rotation properly and who can't beat content if any mechanic, on its own, kills them in one hit. Challenging content is all optional and once it's old we out-gear it and get a buff called The Echo when we die, which boosts stats up to 30% to help casual players clear it. You have to enable settings to remove those advantages in a pre-formed party, so don't expect any content that you do for a story quest to be challenging in that way.
