    Optus DCs

    Type of Issue/Feedback: Latency / DC's
    Name of your Internet Service Provider (ISP): Optus
    State/Country: Australia
    Date/Time: 11th July still ongoing
    World Name: Tonberry
    Frequency: Anytime I log in

    Getting a lot of high latency and DCs. Send latency is sitting at 1400 at the moment. Other players said they were getting the same issue who were using Optus.

    Speaking as an Aussie myself who is on a different network (iinet), I wonder if that is not an SE problem but rather connected to the ongoing technical issues Optus has been having over the past few weeks (service outages and the like)? It's a very likely cause, which sadly SE will not be able to do anything to help you with I'm afraid (try calling Optus's support line and see if they can provide some assistance).

    I have noticed slow response issues with Optus connection lately too. Commands like teleport or using an item don't register so I try again a few seconds later and get errors like "cannot teleport because another teleport is underway".

    Its an NBN problem, and may very well have to do with the fact the NBN wasnt ever designed to handle the load of 15 million people locked in their homes.

    I've also been having issues for the past week. Optus straight up refuses to help. Their best 'help' was to offer me Optus Game Path for $10 a month. If it was fine a week ago, why should i pay $10 a month extra? Its only on the JP servers ive noticed this issue with. I made an NA alt to test and that account has been just fine. None of the usual lag like what happens when i log into my Tonberry main

    I'm on wireless internet through my iPad hotspot though, so my issues won't be NBN-related.

    It could have its own speed issues of course, but it's usually fine. I think I have more issues than if using the Telstra connection from my phone, though.

    For me it’s the packet loss. I tested my connection to Optus main server, no loss and quite fast. But then the connection Tokyo and within Tokyo is where the packet losses happen. Feels so bad now and everyone just keeps telling me to wait for the OCE server next year. Frustrating.

    I just tried resmon - 548ms OUCH. It HAS to be their end as the US server test worked fine.

    Having the same problem and I'm on PS4.

    I contacted Optus earlier and they told me to do a speed test which appeared to be fine, and there were no issues with NBN either. They just told me that it seems to be a game problem.

    Tethering to mobile hotspot is fine tho. Hitting the dummy seems fine as well, but the moment I enter an instance, party members start teleporting here, there and my casts start clipping bad.

    I'm on NBN, but my ISP is iinet, and I'm having no trouble (other than the usual expected weekend Balmungian shennigans typical of my server ), so this is clearly an Optus issue. And as I mentioned before, for the past couple of weeks Optus has been plagued by service issues and outages affecting their mobile and internet networks, so this is probably connected to that (from what I understand the problem may be caused by a cyberattack on their network, but don't quote me on that).

    Either way, there is nothing SE can do as I mentioned before. All you can do is just be patient and hope Optus can sort their problems out.
