Throwing everything into a closed off area of the game doesn't make an MMO feel alive, this is exactly why GW2 isn't like GW1, they realized an instanced sandbox doesn't make an MMO.
I'm a pleasent world yes, but ina cuthroat MMO where people will do underhanded acts to make you fail this isn't the case The "in the open world actually fighting and watching linkshells/guilds fighting hard HNMs" turns into "in the open world actually fighting and watching linkshells/guilds kill one another and lag each other out so the one who has claim over the NM dies and they can begin to fight said NM"

Sure GMs might be able to do something about it but honestly speaking sometimes favoritism is dealt with in those situation. Perfect example was during thanksgiving was helping a friend camp a Morbol NM in the TOAU area and a japanese player was purposely drawing the morbol mobs to where we were resting, sleeping them and then logging out so that when they woke up they would aggro us. The reason why this worked is because the Morbols in question had a large radius is which they could roam so he was able to take a group of 5-6 and bring it to our location in an attempt to wipe us. We called a GM mentioned what happened and long story short they did nothing about it. So ya having things set in instances is just a lot less of a headache and you know it keeps PVE as PVE not PVPVEVP all to claim that NM.
