Well welcome to Final Warcraft, if this game is supposed to be about casuals then wtf am i even paying for, so far ive seen nothing but more and more of the "WoW" influence in it. I have seen ppl ridiculed because they had sub-par gear and were ousted from groups, and all i can think of is that shit didnt happen in XI that much because the job made you not your gear it just helped, but in XIV no gear = gimpass.

As for open world i would love to see a ton of it, but i'm afraid the instanced route is gonna prevail over all simply because its easier for them to manage. Well I say the F$#@ that they get paid to make a great compelling game, not make and easy to manage game for 4 yr olds i mean wtf cmon SE get it togather.

I don't know what server you played on in XI, but on both servers I played on, gimp DDs were kicked or just not invited if they were known to be gimp. You pretty much had to have O Kote/Scorpion Harness/Hauby if you wanted to level up. Hell, I knew plenty of people who even went to the extent of buying gil to fund their leveling equipment.

I'm not saying that this was a good thing by any means, just pointing out that it's not really anything new.

It's funny how people complain about casuals and warcraft, when:

Many WoW fights are harder than anything in the current FF14. Casuals like it easy, not hard.

Final Fantasy in general has a focus on story, and the online-FFs have tried to do this too, by offering more story stuff than what is common in MMOs. However, an interest in a game's story is a typical trait of casual players rather than hardcore players.

Final Fantasies, traditionally, have never really been very hard games.

So which is the casual game, again? WoW or Final Fantasy?

THIS GAME WAS INTENDED TO BE FAR MORE CASUAL FRIENDLY THAN FFXI SINCE IT WAS ANNOUNCED IN 2009.

This game also failed horribly and is being redone from the ground up with input from the community. Whatever was announced back then was (hopefully) tanakas vision. Now we are getting a completely new game from Yoshida.

Yoshidas 3 pillars sound a lot different then that whole "intended to be casual" stuff. I remember them saying that though. Lol the horrible "fatigue" system was there to try to keep some weird balance between hardcore and casual. So ya I REALLY hope they aren't sticking with the made for casuals mostly idea...thats what made the game fail in the first place imo..

It was the lack of content, and clumpy UI that is at fault. It has nothing to do with casual gameplay. You should read more of Yoshi-P interviews. They're floating around somewhere.

If you understand the fatigue system, people wont be running through 1 to 50 in a matter of weeks. Even though it wasn't a perfect system you can still level other classes while one class fatigue resets.

Yep, it also let the other(casuals) level one class and keep up with others with multiple classes.
