Please please please square translate future life letters and events in english

I know i will be flamed for this, but our western community (the rest of the community) is growing...

Leaving the main topic aside for one moment, I think this may have been unintentional but consider the whole world for a moment, the whole world matters.
There are servers where the South-East Asian players and others where the Middle-Eastern players are a significant population, on ones they even feel as if they're a majority in there.
And those of Oceania who are now getting their own Data Center due to their significant population.
That's even without Russia and the rest of the world taken into consideration.

Back to the main topic, I think it would be nice of them but since fans already do the translation, and it seems to be accurate enough, I don't mind reading that instead.

Words for those who think Square Enix is doing itself a disservice by not translating Live Letters immediately: English speakers are not the Target Audience. The official information will show up on these forums in the form of a Live Letter transcript posted by Square Enix. Not immediately, but translation takes time. There's a reason for the "Live" in the title.

Words for those who think Square Enix should translate spontaneous events such as the recent 14 hour event: Heavily Scripted 'spontaneity' - isn't.

do you mean live translations by text or by voice?

By voice that would drag out what they want to talk about as the JP had to pause to give time for the EN to translate and vice versa.
As if they'd talk over each others neither the JP or EN would be able to hear clearly what they are trying to say.

By text that means everything has to be pre-written and leave very little wiggle room for a live broadcast to add anything outside of already planned script.

Fan translations are done by people listening at the time so they are probably your best option.

I'd settle for automatic captions.

Youtube does them. Can't see why it'd be hard to implement them here.

Sure thats true, but since english is the offical world languages and is used all around the globe you would reach most of the non Asian players with it. Of course i dont expect them to support every single language players use in this game, but at least the main language that most of us use and understand would be nice. Its without a doubt doable for them, the only question here is do they thing we are worth the effort or not?

Many multinational businesses manage to translate important information into the appropriate languages to reach their customers at the same time, so I think that it's certainly possible for Square Enix to do so as well.

Imo, like what they did with Reinheart in a way they should outreach - take the discord translation for example. If there is a script give it to them in advance, pay them some amount (or at least offer something beyond a pay on the head lol), get the translations done, employ the community (after some basic tests, just to ensure its not going to be awful lol). The potential early leak might be scary though. Also I wouldn't mind our CM making their own live letters in their languages (mute, replay, commentate, etc).

For blizzcon (not equal to a live letter, but equal to fanfest) has multiple language subtitles available for a huge array of events. I don't watch it all but I remember some pretty minor things having it before.

That said they usually do cover the most important cases with translations already (and the digest as linayar linked, that's always been there if you are willing to wait a little), not end of the world discussion here, just 'ehy that would be cool'. I'm sure very high quality translations, especially if you add multiple languages, can become a pretty mint coin.

Automatic captions for a japanese stream? They are already wonky as it is but there is a reason why japanese is so hard to translate with automatic translators (such as google translate for example). The language is heavily reliant on context and I'm 100% sure the translation program would mess up sentence structure and come up with something that is totally inaccurate.
I'm satisfied with them condensing all the important information into a written post or add subtitles after the event ended. Though, translating a 14h long video seems...excessive but as long as the translator is compensated for their work it's fine with me.
Then again that comes from someone whose native language is neither japanese nor english and I had to learn both if I wanted to play/read the games I wanted to play.
