Yeah, I am amazed that people lack the fundamental knowledge about the probability.
Original, if there are 10 people camp a node, you may have at least 10% chance to get the plot.
This probably may go up if someone drop out

With this LOL lottery, you don't have 10% and it is very likely to be under 0.001% since we have discord/ls actively notify people about empty plot

I'm still on the fence. They mentioned splitting of the FC and personal houses and we need more information because that's a pretty huge thing depending on how SE implements it.

Really though, this thread is full of people that are losing their minds over the lotto and decrying it like it's the second falling of Dalamud and we're going to have all of our wards and houses burnt to cinder by another pissed off Bahamut and then the charred earth sold off by the Ascians... when we barely got a slide in the live letter and have no idea what exactly SE is planning, much less how that's going to go.

It kinda proves the point that we have a bunch of irrational posters here so any attempt at a rational conversation is futile....

Well good, the reason they addressed housing back with the Shirogane mess was because so many people complained.
Not many complaints about it nowadays, or it gets lost in multiple threads so it's no longer a huge issue.
Would love to see people get angry about it again until it is addressed, a huge forum post and all.

This is precisely what I was thinking, it comes down to probability. I really do feel bad for those seeking housing as both systems are inherently flawed. But those seeing the lotto as a solution might be for a rude awakening. It's not even a bandaid, it's like dollar store tape on a sidewalk crack.

Like another poster said it really comes down to supply, and that same supply maybe be potentially fractured. Pair that with the surging player base, it's just gonna be gross. Although I have my large, I do want others to experience the joys of housing. This simply isn't it.

Lottery has been suggested many times, it just means the bots would have a high succesrate of winning a plot when they put in 1000 bots on the same plot, likewise FCs and private houses should not be seperated.

You have yet to explain why bot operators would want a house when that represents millions of gil they could be selling to players.

You also seem to forget you can't just push out a stream of level 1 bots to buy a ticket. Any character still needs to meet purchase eligibility requirements including the deposit fee for the plot, which we assume will be the plot purchase price (it wouldn't make sense to bother with a deposit fee if it wasn't).

Is some bot operator going to tie up over 3 billion gil for the sake of getting a single house? Of course not. They're going to be selling that gil for real money.

More thoughts about the mentioned changes, this time with respect to house flipping.

FC wards - house flipping will continue whether FCFS or lottery. Those who want to buy the house would be buying the FC.

Private wards - house flipping will run rampant in the FCFS wards if there is no purchase timer. House flipping might be killed in the lotttery wards depending on relocation rules.

If relocation can bypass the lottery, then there will be house flipping to relocators. If it can't, then flipping would be effectively killed in the private wards. There would be no way to bypass the lottery.

I don't see flippers resorting to selling their service accounts as a way to sell private houses because most players would want the house on the character they already have. I suppose it's still possible in the case of a player who sees owning a large house as the ultimate prestige item to show off (they could always rename/Fantasia the character to their liking after purchase) but I would put it at extremely unlikely.
