    Benchmark trailer

    So
    Whm shows off what looks like an upgraded divine Bension
    Sch shows off what looks like an upgraded Excog
    Ast shows off what looks like an upgraded Cesletial Intersection
    Sage shows off their medica equivalent, upgraded ST shield from the Sage reveal trailer and a damage spell.

    Not impressed honestly if that turns out to be true with their effects.

    Seriously? A divine benison upgrade? SE declares that they would solidify the pure/barrier healer divide, and instead they muddle WHM's position even further?

    While I do hope that Excog gets an upgrade, I kinda doubt that what they showed was it. It felt more like a new barrier, which would be nice since it looked like it was an instant cast. SCH needs to actually get a wide variety of barriers instead of just a whole ton of oGCD healing spells.

    Also, not impressed at all with Sage's animations. The ones from the original preview were okay aside from the basic heal spell, but an AOE heal where the nuliths just sparkle? That's real uninspired when they could do like a spin while shooting healing beams all around. They go through all the effort to put Sage on the spotlight only to show a mediocre looking spell.

    I didn't expect much for healers in the benchmark since you only get to see one skill for most jobs, and healers always get shafted on it, but kinda sucks to see things be this bad in it.

    It's too early to say for me. The benchmark trailer did not show much, which is disappointing, but this only showed a limited number of skills for each job. Until there is a Job Action Trailer, I will reserve my judgement.

    I can only pray that the development team does a good job with with the Healers (and Tanks too).

    The damage skill is an instant cast spell.

    For those who may not know, weaponskills, spells, and abilities all follow a few set rules for visual effects with a few exceptions.

    Weaponskills have a yellow swirl around the feet. Skills that have combo effects have a burst of thin green lines coming out of the player.

    Spells with a cast time give a glowing aura based on the spell's element - Fire will be tinged red, lightning purple, etc. Instant cast spells have no indication.

    Abilities almost universally have a swirl around the character that looks like water.

    Given the context of the spell animation, I'm willing to bet the many-shooty-gun spell put on display was Sage's DoT effect.

    (This is why we know, for example, that Gunbreaker's amazingly animated attack is an OGCD skill, at least, by following what the game has established. Everything subject to change.)

    Here’s what I find confusing… what it seems like they predominately showed off for the healers was the same skill for all 4 (and a couple extra Sage actions)—some kind of oGCD barrier.

    First and foremost: why? Why show off basically the same thing reskinned 4 ways? Past benchmarks were typically showing off somewhat new elements to each healer’s play style. In Stormblood’s benchmark for example, we saw Plenary Indulgence for WHM, Fey Union for SCH, and The Lord and Lady for AST—all of which were at least meant to be new approaches to their play styles.

    Secondly, why do WHM and AST have new barriers if we’re supposed to be seeing a distinction between pure and barrier healers? Unless of course we’re wrong. But if we’re not, why create new barriers when both already have Divine Benison and Celestial Intersection anyway?

    Are they trying to tell us that barriers will now be required for tanks to survive upcoming tank busters, and thus all 4 healers must have the same oGCD barrier?

    Single target barriers aren't the same as AOEs, and oGCD single target barriers are super limited.

    Not gonna lie, I am starting to like Sage's aesthetic. I wasn't big on the weapon choice, (Nothing screams healer like four flying laser turrets, right?), but the shields and magic patterns are kinda growing on me. I also like the more blueish look they have given the spell effects. I really like that iridiscent indigo colour.
