pausing the game is the thing; you lose control over your character and are "forced" to do something you might not want to do, but you need to do it to progress.

We're talking "hit the button or you literally die then and there". If the only alternative to brief loss of control over your character (pause to use DA) is loss of control over character (death, and then having to restart)... the pause seems preferable, no?

And again, that's only replacing the Easy mode. You still see this only if you've already died (e.g., to that mechanic you didn't DA in time), so it wouldn't be intrusive to those who aren't already running into a wall (and even then only as intrusive as, say, a ladder would be).

Ion no matter how much THE COMMUNITY hates him is a dev that understands his game and knows how it works, which is why THE COMMUNITY has such a hard time grasping things such as meaningful choices like covenants because the majority of them dont know how to play an RPG

Ah yes, the "we know better" and "you're just playing our game wrong, it's actually great, you're just idiots" attitude. Brilliant. Sure, Blizzard hasn't seen a hint of my money for over 3-4 years now and is now facing a mass exodus, but they do know best. How dare we not see that and give them the money they deserve.

I was and someone told me I was being bad and playing poorly. I listened and got better. Easy thing to do.

well i haven't played with you so i can't confirm,
but i assume you mean someone was nice and helpful, not yelling and kicking you because of what they may be missing in intimate areas..

If MSQ actually worked as a tutorial, no one would complain about stuff in lv80 duties.

I was the one suggesting a time trial kinda mode for pre-formed parties. I never did WoW and don't really know what Mythic-Plus beyond scaling dungeons.

Can you elaborate?

As I see it, allowing players who want to do content at a harder level (pre-formed "raid teams", not with random players) seems like a fair way to allow them to have content that'd be easy to implement, but with most of us never touching it. That said, I don't know what kind of situation or reaction that makes in the community as a whole (as you experienced in WoW), so I'm curious what happens. Does it just go full toxic?

sorry I just saw this since it got buried quickly. The timed runs in WoW create a sense of urgency that turns people into angry pixel warriors if someone dares screw up the run. They are also near required for gearing purposes. It's just rush rush rush, DONT DIE DONT DIE or you fucked over everyone. You also have to have a key to even enter them that is consumed whether the group is successful or not. Players get pissed if they fail it and burn their key. There is literally no enjoyment in it at all

Fun fact, most people that are giving advice are actually nice, its those on the receiving end behaving toxic - kicking and screaming, see this thread for example.
