Again, 800+ runs M+, mostly PuGed. Your vague second-hand information. Why should I credit what you think you know about content that by your admission you refuse to participate in, over my 5 years of actually playing the content in question?

And no, parsing is not a unique trigger for toxicity. I've seen numbers brought up exactly thrice without a prior request for them (from those playing without addons who want to know how they did). Two of those were merely to ask if the recent nerfs were excessive (to Fire, and later to Boomie), as part of friendly banter. But even the one Mage who went off on one of the other DPS didn't do so because of his numbers, but because the other DPS was failing mechanics and not using his utility.

It seems like a fair portion are taking this preconception of a "toxic WoW community" as license to, themselves, be irresponsible, insular, and uncaring, and then blame "the community" for what they, themselves, sow.

Don't want others treating you poorly? Then treat them well in turn. That includes taking the effort to be prepared, be that in terms of gear, knowledge, or skill. It won't always be reciprocated, but if my experience has gone well over so large a sample size and yours so poorly, maybe we are the critical factors there.
