Please implement something to teach players how to play

To be fair, there are plenty of 13-90 year old players who apparently play BLM without Fire spells, at least according to all of the 'anecdotal' evidence I've been reading in the forums. Never ran across a single one, but then again, I've only been playing for 7 years. Perhaps tomorrow.

Age doesn't necessarily make one good at video games.

And skill at playing a video game doesn't necessarily make one good with social interactions. It does, however, seem to involve a lot of anger toward people who aren't as equally skilled, for some reason.

That's true, but no DoTs on DoT jobs, no positional on melees- we're collecting stereotypes aren't we?

It's not about video game skills as much as it is deterioration of mental capacities- I'm REALLY doubtful someone in their 60's are unable to understand what a DoT is if it's explained to them and if they don't have disorders along the line of dementia or Alzheimer's.

Maybe, but I don't know enough about how age and the brain works to judge someone. Either way she is a sweet lady, and my husband explains things to her..but she does not understand. Like keeping track of icons and doing rotation and movements. It is too much for her to track. and she does just fine in the game. Husband wants to do Trust with her, but she told him that he will never replace her grandkids. (the twins.)

She's just not willing to put the effort into it and that is wholly her problem. It's a shame she doesn't because everyone loves a badass gaming grandparent!

...I don't even know what to say to that. But hey think what you want. I will tell you this, she tried harder than I would. :P i'm just glad she enjoys the game and it caters to her.

Just leave the dungeon. Why? Because 9/10 times if you say anything about their playstyle you can get reported.

Title. (and no, the smiths outdated tutorial doesn't count)

I'm getting sick of running dungeons, trials, etc. whatever the hell content, and people just don't have a clue.

The usual suspects are out:

- Healer who stands still, doesn't deal damage, cant even keep up with healing
- DPS who single targets mobs when you have like the entire dungeon on you
- Tanks who just sit there and pull 1 group at a time
- People at max level who have no damn idea how to play their class whatsoever (example: Fire 1 Mage at level 80.)

What the hell is going on?

I've been feeling like I'm some crazy elitist just because I have an expectation that you have like an iota of competence.

Also, Im not going to bother trying to teach people things in game. Been there, done that. You get screamed at.

TO clarify: I'm mainly concerned about level 70-80 characters having these issues.

Ah, well I would encourage her to play better..but my wife is pretty similar to be honest. She plays the game more or less like a chat room to socialize with her friends. Fortunately she is aware of her D- skill level..and never uses DF. She plays exclusively within our circle of RL friends.

hell, I don't mind waiting 10+ minutes if someone from DF has to go AFK as long as they communicate it

but when a player actively and knowingly isn't using their abilities, is smug and toxic about it and tries to take a moral high ground over the perceived "elitism" of others when people call them what they are, it weirds me out and says a lot about themselves when they continuously do it
also, calling others self-centered when they want to help people improve, like what the heck lmao

also, I find it odd how the husband stops posting and the wife starts posting with the exact same writing and post style :v)

I mean my husband was right. It is kinda self center to want someone to improve that does not want it. Ever gone to the pool, and always that one guy who wants to jump in the deep in. Always wants one of us to join him, even though we are just happy chilling ? Just go do your fun, and let us girls chat. Wanting players to play better if they are doing something that requires them to be better is one thing, wanting them to play better when it is not needed is another.

I mean if you want to stand around for 120 min in CT and have enough people in your party to force everyone else to wait, I'd just drop party?

Sorry if I m unable to prove a point. I try to explain as good as possible.

In a normal situation, you have 24 players who trying to do their best and clear CT as fast as possible.
You got 120 mins to clear CT. But thats not the minimum requirements, its just the time how long the instance can be open.

If I m playing as a healer (AST) and I only use my 2-3 healing-speels to keep the group alive, I would fall asleep. This is boring and not fun.
Why does SE give me cards and damage spells, when I dont use it? Why should I refuse to help other people, when I m able to do so?

Yes, the game and the devs doesnt force you to anything. But that can go in both ways. The point of "But the devs implemented that way" is therefore invalid.

Nobody can force players to "git gud". But it wouldnt hurt if they trying to improve by themselves.

Considering the game is intended for you to use all the skills and abilities you have access to in any piece of content your husband is even worse than your friend for trying to say otherwise.

Hmmmmm...I don't know if it is worth debating this. As it would suggest that the DF content can't be done without all your skills. If that is the case, dang I'm better than I thought.

it is needed because most of the time a normal trial/raid can't be passed is because of selfish and entitled players like you holding everyone up and expecting to get carried through the content said content like you were in your whole playtime before
