Remember when FFXIV first came out? -humor/joke-

Ok, I was going to just share this and joke about who remembered when graphics and play style was actually like this in FFXIV. Maybe I should have, but in any case...just had this recently come my way and wanted to share. FFXIV (16 Bit) Titan EX Fight

And it's nice to see how Dragoon was, even back then. Always have to make sure you're tanking that floor. And yet, while out most of the fight...ends up getting the Nightmare Whistle and bouncing. LOL!

Haha, I almost wonder what everyone would say if we actually had an MMO like that? Perhaps make a dungeon or raid where we get turned into 16 bit for the fight?

I think you might be misconstruing the context of the joke they are making in that 16bit video, i mean i see what you are trying to get at, but it's not a solid lead-in for a joke regarding the phrase: "remembering when FFXIV first came out?"

All people remember about FFXIV when it actually first came out was 1.0 FFXIV back in 2010.

Mike B's coverage of the FFXIV 1.0 beta would have been a better example for the joke you were trying to make.

Yeah, hence why I didn't go with the original intent. Especially since I doubt anyone here would be dumb enough to even buy into it. But I guess part of me was sitting here thinking about talking to a young kid just starting the game, maybe doesn't know much...showing it and be like "this is what the graphics and gameplay was like when I started playing. Look how far the game has come!"

I know, I know, it's lame. A lot of my jokes and humor misses its mark. That said, it was a funny thing to see, especially the joke with the DRG and all.

Oh, btw..I played original for a bit. I quit because it sucked. Unfortunately, I also stopped using email and all associated with that account, so I had to start a brand new one. Which is all good, cause not like I got too far in 1.0.

And yeah, funny vid you showed. Little long, but funny. Thanks for showing.,

There was a Rising event minigame a few years ago called 'the Cheap Dungeon', which was a first-person perspective 8-bit dungeon crawler (complete with limited four-direction movement, 8-bit MIDI synthesis music (appropriately called Wizardry on the OST) and very basic late 80s/early 90s era pixel graphics), hunting 'bugs' (as in, computer bugs - it makes sense in context) which was probably the closest we've gotten to something like that. But then, the Rising is very meta and fourth-wall breaking anyway so it made sense.

lol, they had me curious and I went looking for it. Did you do the same? If not, check it out at https://youtu.be/6hAxIUmxI2M

Or someone else doing a walkthrough of it. https://youtu.be/08gD1q4hKNg

I mean, that one seems a little different than they described but still I guess kind of fun enough.
