As a DPS am I wrong for singling out that Wasp that has a near OHK first before aoeing everything the tank brought together. Does it take a few extra seconds to get through everything yes, but I killed something that could have messed up how the group was rolling.

As a healer I throw out a GCD barrier a bit more often because I want a little more 'cushion' on the tank's health just incase someone misses a wasp sting or similar, my DPS is slightly down but I minimized the chance of a hiccup, lagspike, etc screwing my healing up by being slightly proactive.

They might not be 'optimal' in many people's eyes, but are those playstyles truly 'wrong'...no.

When tanking or healing I put MARKERS up on those bees in Qarn and tell the DPS to focus fire them lol

Check the upper left of your screen there's supposed to be a little button that tells you where to go next in the MSQ

Yes, the chocobo and etc opens up as you do the MSQ. You will on occasion have to do duty finder. Several trials (single boss fights) and a dungeon or two every once in awhile. There are three between 15 and 20, a trial at 20, 2 dungeons in the 20s, 1 dungeon and trial in the 30s, etc(at 50 are 2 special dungeons that...just follow along they tend to be hectic but are faceroll and square never did anything like them again. Players do them on repeat for huge XP bonuses for alt classes.). each series of patches adds a trial and dungeon or two over the course of an expansion's life. At 50 you'll also have to do the Crystal Tower alliance raid but it's roughly LFR difficulty and most runs are pretty smooth.

MOST runs will be smooth and MOST players will be polite and offer tips and friendly advice, I think the people on the forums are extra salty but the same can be said of every MMO. I at least try to be nice to people.

Kaylal, if you do a google for lancer job quests or drg when you get there, it will tell you places you need to go for your jobs. usually if you check out any blue quest icons you see, those are quite often going to be dungeons you can do along the way.

As for the GC/chocobo, it comes in later now because xp is pretty generous, so although I think it says level 20-25ish, its easy, and likely, you get directed there well past that level. I think when I made another character to run with a friend we were late 30's before we joined a grand company and got the chocobo. If you were on Crystal data center would take you places to make sure you are getting things.

if you read the ToS its a VERY broad interpretation of section to apply it to a tank not pulling everything. I have a hard time seeing a GM using that section to enforce anything unless the tank was able.. somehow, to pull the mobs one at a time.

I dont think 'impatience' is considered a good enough reason for a report or action

There's a super easy way to not have to deal with those people. Don't let the game randomly match you. Get out there, make friends with like-minded folks, and go on your merry way.

Is that saying that you can't have personal expectations? No. I have plenty of folks I group with who make me groan.

But if you aren't going to lift a finger to control the environment you game in and instead just lazily let the game choose for you, then you should temper those expectations and be understanding that others may not have the same viewpoint. If it's that horrendous, then just leave. Otherwise, see if you can make the experience positive and lead by example. Will you have to carry sometimes? Yep. But that's the cover charge for putting your fate in the hands of a random matching system.

I don't really know how to put it, but like why are people level 80, but play their kit like they have moves up to level 10 only. (Arbitrary example level) I think thats a problem.
I'm a bit like SniperCT here and wondering where all these horrible players are. I almost exclusively PuG since my FC is tiny and my friends take breaks, and in 7 years of playing I just don't have that many stories about THOSE players. Seen plenty who may have been struggling for one reason or another. Helped where I could, muddled through where I couldn't.

You also have to consider content. MSQ is something the entire spectrum of playstyles need to go through. So, yep, it's going to be pretty faceroll and there are a lot of folks in the game who never step past that level of content that you may run into. Can either approach it with a negative attitude and be miserable or try to find something positive or fun in it.

This entire thread reeks of the elitism I thought we were supposed to be above.

Also wtf groups have you people been getting, I've almost never run into players who weren't playing decently (or were unwilling to accept some advice when they were clearly new and learning) and I've been mainlining leveling dungeon roulettes for weeks. My negative experiences have been mostly from mentors but that's to be expected lol

Just go and take a deep dive of tales from the duty finder thread. I solo que the DF most of the time and have played since 2.0 Beta. I've come across everything from non aoeing dps, bards that don't use both of their dots on anything but the boss, don't sing, dancers that never pick a dance partner, drgs that never give their eye to anyone even themselves, CD allergic tanks, use provoke halfway into a boss, don't put stance on until half the party is dead on the first pull. People who don't use feint or virus even if it's not at a good time to do so. I could go on listing a whole lot more, but I think you get the picture. You might not notice them, but they definitely exist.
