    Hi, the problem is, especially when you play a healer class there is a huge diference between playing solo, playing 4-man dungeons and playing more difficult raids. When i play solo, my WHM is a two-button-class. But when i play in raids then i need way more buttons and cooldowns. The solo gameplay and the things you learn during playing solo are basically useless in more difficult group content.


    And then there are some ... habits from other MMOs.

    I think I may have picked up bad habits from even ff itself >.< This is super true, if you enter a fate or something depending on which one it is you are never needed to use other heals on yourself unless the theoretical pai-pai are in the upwards direction. The Dodo fate that spawns a million dodo's while you have to destroy their nests would be one where this occurs, but even than you only have 3 or 4 ish things you could use at that level.

    Later levels things still don't really do much. I figured what better way to learn how to heal a raid than msq roulette, but most of the time no one is not taking damage save for getting thrown around by Nero or the disco laser light show at the end with drop ships that someone may oopsie under. Alliance raids can be pretty insane too but if everyone is playing well at least in the ones I have done I kind of wonder why I am there. I wish to practice, until suddenly the difficulty ramps up and everyone is dying!

    The difficulty of things is honestly extremely random, and than I find myself without random skills when I had been pushing the button like an idiot thinking I had lustrate in stone vigil. It is similar to other classes that have no way of actually practicing besides just going in and trying out the content.

    TO clarify: I'm mainly concerned about level 70-80 characters having these issues.
    I guess we could make some use of all the things that happen before this "level 70"

    FFXIV is an horribly designed game, especially on the progression curve. Tutorials are nice to have, but if the game needs to keep adding them, then there is a problem. The whole leveling process is a train-wreck, it wasn't very good at release because of the asinine quests/fate and shallow game system, but through the years it only got worse since the only decent content - the dungeons/boss - have been nerfed multiple times. Now it's just a parody of Cookie clicker.

    83 pages and it's devolved into yet another school yard fight, I see.

    With the exception of the 10 year 'veteran' who appears to hate the game. That's always amusing.

    The fact that these self-proclaimed "old folks players" are serious about this subject and getting genuine reactions out of more than a few people probably made Titanman question his purpose on these forums. He's been outclassed hardcore by these guys.

    That alone makes this thread stupidly hilarious.

    Don't be sorry. This was a good thread. There were many good ideas brought up and at the end of the day we all learned something... Some of us.

    Like I said previously, if and when this thread comes up again this thread can be used as a foundation.

    If they were gonna they'd have done it already, and they seem pretty intent on innovating themselves out of having to explain anything. Content becomes more same-y and streamlined, jobs become more standardized, mechanics either get removed or used rarely.

    Should we teach people about holding enmity properly? We don't have to if we remove it as a mechanic!
    Should we teach healers about DPSing when it's sensible? Not if the DPS check doesn't exist!
    Should we teach tanks about stances? Not if they don't have a choice!

    Not to mention the things that still exist but are either so mild they barely require an operating frontal cortex (tank busters) or are used so rarely it's like seeing a leprechaun in congress with a unicorn (adds). And each thing they remove or make same-y makes people who actually enjoyed tanking in the past (hw, stb) more annoyed with how everything currently works. For SE though, it's another thing to make the next guy you run into during your roulettes or your DF slightly more reliable, lifting the skill floor just that much more.
