Hopefully when we're here again around when we've gotten the last skill balances for 6.0+ patches we'll remember this thread. Cause trust me this most likely will pop up again.
I don't see the reason for so much aggression over this to be honest. What many people want is some form of intermediate or advanced tutorial at higher levels and a tiny bit more incentive or motivation to do well. It's not about purging the bad players, it's just giving people some help learning the ropes and making it feel good to get there.
Why does the idea of simple encouragement and guidance to improve at a team hobby cause some people to lash out defensively so much? Why don't players want to be taught how to play? Of course I was a new player getting facepalms once too. I love that time in gaming, it was a great journey going from new sprout to achieving endgame goals and I wouldn't be half as good as I am now without all the help, friendly advice, chat, discussion and guides and such I had along the way. I'd have loved for even more of that to be available when getting into the game.
I was and someone told me I was being bad and playing poorly. I listened and got better. Easy thing to do.
well i haven't played with you so i can't confirm,
but i assume you mean someone was nice and helpful, not yelling and kicking you because of what they may be missing in intimate areas..

Fun fact, most people that are giving advice are actually nice, its those on the receiving end behaving toxic - kicking and screaming, see this thread for example.
considering the very first post comes down to "get gud" and "Im not helping the newbs" im going to graciously disagree with half your point.
i will agree that " most people that are giving advice are actually nice"
but not the people that are just smug neck beards looking down on others and refusing to help just to make their mediocre achievements feel greater.
again, what's the point of the unneeded vitriol and toxicity? can't you say it without insulting an imaginary enemy? always having to blame someoneconsidering the very first post comes down to "get gud" and "Im not helping the newbs" im going to graciously disagree with half your point.

if someone from the "bad players should git gud" group would make a similar post aimed at the other side you instantly have several posts screaming bloody murder about how toxic this player is and so on, yet posts like these rarely get called out
the hypocrisy is honestly fricking astounding

Returned to see if any interesting discussion was to be had here in this place during my queue and welp. I hath but one question!
Why does everyone defending poor play sound exactly the same? I mean.. exactly. the. same. Is it the same person on fifteen different accounts or something? Have the Allagan's began testing their clone technology?
Also have just noticed the top tags for this thread and nearly died from laughter. Whoever made those you get all the kindest of boops for bringing much laughter.
Who hurt some of you?
because we realize that its just a game and if you want to gate players from content for not being up to snuff and offer no help to them crossing the gap then we would rather you be the one removed from the game than them. its simple, yet complex to some.
Hey I found clone sixteen! I thought I disabled that sphere in the summoner quest chain.. I may have to head back to Azys Lla to make extra certain this time.
I will humor you though, why the heck not. What kinda help am I supposed to offer exactly? When I am not queuing with friends (something I infrequently do anymore) and notice someone truly struggling we always assist where we can. Other times I enjoy watching them learn, tis more fun to experience the mechanic before someone ruins it for you I feel. If they ask for assistance I will offer it but if they do not I will not unless it prevents us from clearing the content. There are exceptions though. I am paying for this game to play it not to guide others through the fundamentals of their class. If I chose on given days or am simply not in the correct mood I will not help. If I feel that someone is beyond help, I will not help. This is not complex concept to understand and does not exist in other games.
How many matches of Overwatch would you stop to explain the importance of properly raising and dropping your Reinhardt shield so that it regenerates? I have never encountered this type of behavior anywhere but in FF14, seriously it is darn peculiar. "Please pay a monthly subscription to help me play or do not queue." Rude much? Really.. the heck. We help because we wish to not because we are obligated to.
"It is only game, why you haff to be mad?"
Well you see, there are these three other players (minimum) that are real living people who may prefer their teammates not to sandbag in a team based exercise. Crazy! I know! If helping them benefits the team then sure, why the heck not or if someone feels like being nice they can help for this reason too. We often do. There is a streamer called Violentdestruction I watch who does all the fricken time.
Do you know what usually occurs? One hour of bashing his head against a wall during extreme trials because no one is reading chat.
It does not matter what hobby or activity, if someone is holding the group back and refuses to improve (refuses not is incapable) there will be feist. It could be a band or sports team or any other recreational hobby. No one wishes to put in more effort then those around them for little to no reward.
I refuse to explain this again so this is the last time I am writing this for the clones.
This is a team based exercise. The entire team is expected to perform at the best of their ability before accepting the queue. If you feel you are not able to do this it is you who should not queue.
I fit into group B, the average shmuck. I make mistakes and misalign my rotation. I space out and forget to cleanse that doom sometimes. My numbers are fairly average. What I do not do is intentionally not press buttons because reasons. If I do not like a class or feel I play it poorly I stop playing it until I improve. If this were a single player game perhaps things would be different.
I care about the time of others on my team enough to give it my bestest.
If proper tutorials or more challenging content gatekeeps players that know they are playing poorly in team games yet proceed to do so anyways then lash out at their team for being upset then sign me up on team toxic elitist I suppose.
