Please implement something to teach players how to play

Just returned from one fantastic run of Crystal Tower and most amusing run of Amdapor Keep to.. you know what? Nope nope nope.

I will leave this here instead; "Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."

Suggest that others do same thing and ignore this person so we can have constructive conversation because they have gone into a null loop. Now leaving projection station heading for stack overflow boulevard. At the least it's quarantined on Crystal and I can escape players like this by going to JP server. Best of the luck out there fellow adventurers! I said what I wished too and will leave now before I am banned from the forum.

Ya, I think you really do take this game way too serious. For one, just because we don't agree with each other. No need to name call. Second, this is a board. If you are willing to run away from someone who disagrees. It shows just how weak your stance is.

It has a name: PuGs. Or "Pickup Groups". This is what you encounter in DF, and true to every PuG, people's skills will vary. You may get a group where everyone synergises well to speedrun the dungeon, or you may get grouped with a single pulling tank or no damage healer. When you sign up for DF, this is the risk you take.

So, what can you do about it?

Well... simply put, get over it. No one is going to play the game to your level or expectation and if it's so intolerable to you, you're aware you can always leave, right? Your healer isn't DPSing? Tank pulling too little? Just leave the party, lol. "But, but----" suck it up or leave the party or play with your friends.

Literally coming from someone who use to get mad about this stuff. It's just such a waste of energy and I have better things to be doing rather than getting annoyed by some rando in my party that I'll never see again anyways.

And just remember: you don't know what's going on on that person's end. There could be a real reason why someone isn't doing so hot, you know.

So anyways, during my Amdapor Keep roulette I was able to witness one sprout and one returner learning as they played. It kinda reminds me of Dark Souls somewhat and am surprised I did not make this example sooner. Those games do not teach you anything yet there is desire to learn from accomplishment. I have assisted many players for some jolly cooperation and watching them learn as we progress through a level is most amusing! There they are trying to stay away from all the enemies. Ohhh they have figured out how to kick and now they are even attempting to parry?! You go and get them!

Our sprouty healer began the instance not doing any deeps and seemed unsure of themselves. The tank who I believe was returning player? They had the blooming flower where the sprout would be only did small pulls which is somewhat sadness inducing but they were super fricken observant. I have seen many tanks bolt away without paying much attention to where the party is. I got stuck in the chat and this person turned to wait for me and the healer who may have become lost.

Our lala healer casted two cure ones before bailing on them once they realized it would not be enough. They started by staying far far away from the mobs only dotting with some occasional stone. By the middle of the dungeon there they were casting holy, using presence of mind and swiftcast. They even used surecast! I see so so many not use arms length or casters not use the surecast button to prevent knockbacks or interrupts. Tis not the first time me or friends and family watched this happening either so learning from playing is definitely possible. It is also how I learned.

If you are out there two players, keep on doing what you are doing because you are one of the reasons I continue to play.

Mandatory Tutorials in the beginning of the game as well as the skills one get as they lvl would/needs to be looked at.

At the bare minimum give everyone the respective skills they need to understand baseline, as in:
Tanks get:One AoE ability, One Defensive Cool Down, Provoke, And one SIngle Target Ability
DPS Get: One AoE ability, One SIngle Target Ability, One form of a Regen Cool down
Healers Get: AoE Heal Ability, Single Target heal Ability, One Single Target Damage ability, and one AoE Damage ability

By revamping the early game, and scaling it to account for the new changes This would make People have a base understanding of the game, along with a Tutorial where these abilities and skills must be used X amount of time to proceed. In my opinion its not a matter of if people play XIV casually, its the fact that some people are truly lost and don't know how this game functions. Asking these people to just understand what their roles does shouldn't be seen as asking the world of them. Because if more players just started kicking everytime you got these type of layers that would eventually become a problem.

In fact a few months ago I had an entire group of people (not a single one of them new) In Orboone, who were so used to being carried that myself and a friend who came with me for rouls had to teach people their roles, how to do certain mechs etc. Now this may have just been a really rare occurence, but that many people at max lvl shouldnt be that incompetent. In a recent interview YoshiP himself even said Such content as Allaiance raids are made with players in mind who just suck at the game, and thats just it, if too many players who suck at the game are in one place, its honestly just a vote abandon. But I digress.

Its not Elitism to ask someone to know the basics of their role, its not mean. the onus is on them for holding others back in group content. Thats life, if you work a job and don't know your position,you get fired.All in all, if you're not willing to teach, kick em, and black list them, they will be someone elses problem, and will either learn eventually, or just stop playing eventually.

This! Mmhmm mmhmm! Ohhh also give one ogcd skill for each class earlier especially healers so everyone can get use to weaving.
My uncle was saying much of the same, everyone should have one aoe skill by Sastasha. Also give the tanks their stance at level one.. it is soooo strange especially in potd when you have a reflex to activate it but cannot.

Speaking of systems that assist new players and needing them, am unsure how many others know this but my mom discovered it. Inside of the hall of novice beside Sastasha to the left on a table is a book. Within the book are many of the "mmo terms" defined in a way someone who has never heard them before would be able to understand. I fricken missed this in my excitement to enter my first dungeon! Not applicable to many here but am certain it is for some. We all found this most precious but nothing really guides you to it.

You can ask for 'mandatory', but unless you can show evidence that this is being done somewhere else (and, may I add, successfully) you're just talking through your own frustrations with players who are perhaps not as good at playing games as you are.

Most other MMOs solve this very simply, you get flamed, then you get kicked, then you get flamed some more. Since this obviously isn't a thing in this game due to it's ToS, and not exactly the most desirable solution either, we need other solutions that do not include other players constantly insulting you and kicking you from their parties until you learn.

Well yeah, other MMOs do not need to do this because the problem is already getting solved by the playerbase with peer pressure. But it's certainly not an ideal solution to tell new players to "git gud" before proceeding to kick them from content until they either git gud or quit the game.
