Please implement something to teach players how to play

Having no predefined arbitrator by which to set the rules for you explicitly does not remove conventions or expectations. It simply centers them around what is typical.

If your interests differ from your party, well, you 4 are your own arbitrators, tacit though your communication will probably be. The more atypical someone's styles or interests, the more often that won't pan out in their favor, by whatever direction that may take. Moreover, if your interests are so atypical as to be in conflict with what is typically perceived as those of a typical player, you have no leg to stand on in arguing against a majority. And that is the situation you seem to be finding yourself in if you have to insist on your fundamental right to not give a damn about others or what the content expects from you (to play the board game solely by your own rules, as you put it, despite that being untenable by nature of it being a multi-person game).

You are right in this, but the community itself is very much accepting of players such as myself as long as the content gets done. Like i've only been kicked out one time and that was because I had to afk. You can play the class how you want and still get content done. And the community is very much understanding and accepting of that. The content is design around players like myself, and most people who play this game understands that. If the community started mass kicking players like me. They will find themselves kicking a TON of players each time. It would just be too much trouble.

Stay the heck out of it or form a party with people you know. I play this game for the story/gathering/crafting. Roulettes and DF runs are simply for tomes and gil for me. I am not looking for someone to be parsing me and expecting the ultimate in perfection in a daily roulette in Satasha. Thankfully, YOU are not on my DC so I never have to worry about being plopped in a party with you.

but to give you a serious response:
people, me included, are not talking about players like you or anyone that plays their class decently, there are absolutely 0 (zero) of "us" asking for players to use their perfect rotation or anything and yet, that's THE thing you or others always and I mean always seem to focus on
we are talking about players who either knowingly play badly in ilvl locked level 80 content or have been taught the class wrong by the game/their friends because you can brute force yourself through 99% of the content
you have to invent scenarios and headcanons where you have to paint me as some elitist bad guy because I dare to criticize this on the official forum and yet, if you'd see me encounter this in DF, I'd try to help the player in question, but hey, my willingness to help someone improve is apparently toxic, so I should stop doing that and instead coddle and tell someone in lvl 80 content that using nothing but cure 1 is perfectly fine and that everyone else asking them to use something else are toxic elitists, right?
DF is fun, the things you can see and experience in it are fun, but after you wipe to E12N 5 times because both healers use only cure and benefic 1, it stops being fun, there's only so much the rest of the party can do to mitigate that
both of us are playing the game for the very same reason (minus crafting for me, tho I'm getting there), I don't do high end content, so trying to paint me as some elitist tryhard raider is really damn cringe, in my eyes

Is it so hard to understand, that anyone who joins a random group of players (no matter by PF or DF), should at least put some minor effort into it? I m not speaking of 200%-Ultra-Hardcore-Raid-Skills in a dungeon. I m speaking of basics like doing mechanics and not being afk 50% of your time.

But its just a game!
- Yes it is. But its a game you play with other people. If you dont want to play WITH other people, there are tons of singleplayer games waiting for you. But FFXIV is an MMORPG.

But I want to play like I want!
- Then go with your friends or find some FC-members with the same attitude. Its pretty impolite to force your playstyle to 3-7 other people. Show some respect and do your job!

- Fine. I m a tank, my job is to tank. I m tanking every AoE now and tons of monsters. You want to heal? I give you something to heal!

Because it counters all of your points? The only reason why this thread was made because people are not happy with the DF not being convenient enough. You have the tools to get around that.



For people saying this is a mmorpg, this is a social game. Well that logic does not work because it can easily be used against you. This is a MMORPG. Make friends and your own groups that think like you. Simple logic that pretty much counters all the points people make and the thread should end with it.
