I don’t know if this is a feature that has been suggested before, but I was thinking it would be nice to have a singular list of specific items that the player is looking to eventually craft. This could be a list of up to 15-20 (possibly more) items that the player has selected from the craft log that they intend to craft at some future point. The player can add items to the list from the crafting log, or anywhere else the player is allowed to search for crafting recipes, using current menus, and remove items from the list by directly accessing the list. From the list, the player can do the usual of synthesizing items by selecting them from the list, view materials necessary for crafting, and view the break-down of raw items required for crafting. The player should also be able to see, easily, from the list which crafting job is required to craft any specific item stored on the list, so the player can switch to the appropriate crafting job. In essence this crafting task/wish list would act like a miniaturized version of the full crafting log, but it is only populated with a specific set of craft-able items that have been selected from the full crafting log by the player.
It is often the case with crafting in FFXIV that the player may wish to craft, simultaneously, several different items in fulfillment of some particular goal or purpose the player has in mind. Under the current system, the player has to memorize or separately record, outside of game, the disparate items that are to be crafted, or the player ends up kludging a work-around using the favorites listings in the crafting log to notate which items are to be crafted. The issues with each of these methods are fairly evident: memorization can tax the player's mental memory and lead to errors and inefficiency during the crafting process (having to constantly re-lookup the items and recipes), separate out-of-game records break the player's immersion into the game-world, and the kludge of using the favorites, while workable, is cumbersome in that it requires a lot of shifting through multiple panels and remembering which job's crafting favorites list contained items to be crafted; additionally, there is the cumbersome task of tracking the necessary materials for the totality of crafts. A separate, singular, in-game list with only the items relevant to the specific goal or task at hand would be much more efficient and better allow the player to focus attention throughout the crafting process, without requiring multiple instances navigating and reprocessing of information from the full crafting log.
The best use-cases for this feature are when the player is simultaneously crafting multiple pieces of gear for upgrade, for sell, or for trade as a set, crafting multiple items for purposes of furnishing housing, or when dealing with crafting chains of items that are used toward crafting a final singular item. While each of these is doable under the current system, the process of doing so is cumbersome and can be prone to error, or require significant re-lookup of information. This is due to there just being too much irrelevant information being presented to the player at once, when the player just wants to focus on only the specific items they want and need to craft for their specific goal or purpose in mind, and the player is forced to constantly navigate the entirety of that information and mentally filter only the information relevant to cause. Having a single, separate list that contains only the relevant crafting items would significantly ease the player’s burden and help focus their efforts to only what is relevant toward accomplishing their specific overarching goal, task, or purpose. The need to navigate the entirety of crafting items only occurs once in the initial process of populating the list, rather repeatedly with each item to be crafted.
In summary, it would be a significant QoL improvement to have a single task or wish list (not favorites) of 15-20 (possibly more) items to be crafted, at some future point, to aid the player in dealing with crafting multiple different items in a single crafting session.
