Now I've arrived at the Azim Steppe, with a bit of regret for having changed my race and been wondering what would happen differently if I was still a Xaela. There are any changes in dialogue/lore related to that in this specific part?

And would anything change as well if I was a Raen when I arrived at Yugiri's village?
There's a line from Hien something to do with the "land of your ancestors" if you're a xaela, and a few bits of very slightly changed dialogue in some of the side quests.

I don't think there's anything different if you're a raen in Sui-no-Sato. 99.9% of all raen have nothing to do with the village and everyone there already knows you're an outsider so an outsider raen wouldn't be different to them than an outsider viera.

Most of the game doesn't reference your race at all beyond a rare "Hey, you hyur!" and a few sparse extra bits that go just a little bit beyond that. Off the top of my head, the only drastic differences in the game based on the race you play, is dialogue and access in the 2 dwarf towns in Shadowbringers if you're a lalafell.
