I don't think it'll do as much good as one thinks it will, the people who are doing this in a way that might seem trolly are going to be able to continue to operate as long as they are allowed to operate as an individual themselves (which would require a crack down on us all to much stricter standards than which people already complain about).

Mostly is, imo, just going to be annoying - if you had some large thread you put together or enjoyed, then getting locked so you just have to remake the thread, it demotes a general sense of history as well. Naturally sometimes the history is incorrect, but that's true for threads kept alive as well.

Seems like the desire is well meaning, sick of seeing stuff brought back for the sake of getting people's goats, but it misses by the fact that they are trying to get your goat- do you think they're going to suddenly stop because of some arbitrary timer? More chains on us all while not effectively abating the hazard in the first place, I think.

I would be more for just the GMs taking individual situations into account, and locking threads that should be locked on that individual basis.
