This would had the exact same issue as SB did with forcing aoe into the ST rotation, that is unless they have a shared action like Drill and Bio
the only change flamethrower needs is changing it into a turret maybe consume gauge for awesome pbaoe dmg (queen but aoe version )....so the MCH can keep going with his/her live....lol

Depending on what you think, you may just be asking for salted earth 2.0.
The problem with "AoE queen" tied to the same resources is that, like Bio Blaster and Auto Cross bow, you won't see the "AoE Queen" used a lot in single target content.
Which is 95% of high end content.
If it was alterning between Queen and Flamethrower automaton, like how SMN switch between Bahamut and Phoenix, it would be great.
But the job would again play itself without the need of player input. And if I want to see a movie, I won't boot up XIV, I'll boot up my tv or netflix.
I honestly think it’s impossible to make Flamethrower work, but the closest thing it can do is probably this.
Auto cross spamming and flamethrower idleness are identical enough to not be a drag the difference is you can weave GCDs while the other your trapped. But with Auto you can’t even generate GCDs so hardly matters. if it consumes gauge rather than give it it’ll have to be in a CD and do a lot more damage than auto but just isn’t designed for turret use as any movement wastes this resource unless it’s heavily adjusted. Like say once you use flamethrower you gain a buff so any movement still grants you use of flamethrower usage until that buff is gone or something similar in vein. Probably the best solution for it tbh.

Flamethrower feels like a Skill that should've been scrapped alongside the old heat system, or have a "first three attacks deal low damage but then it charges and deals alot of aoe damage" to justify it being a 60 second CD. But I am not here to talk about it, but rather automaton queen
AQ has a problem for me, which is that it is just a glorified DoT. I was thinking, couldn't it be like Reaper's Enshroud? Where you turn half-robot or get a big gadget and change your attacks for a few seconds? Like Scouter from Lost Ark.
Mostly because it would make the job feels more "I am doing stuff" than just let my robot do the big damage. Plus I'm all for MCH having a more complex rotation and have a higher DPS than the other two R.Physical because of that. The AQ is cool and all, but I often try to time to use to make finisher be inside buffs and forget about it.



Unfortunately, same thing happened to DRK, where they put all the complexity part of its rotation into a pretty dot. But I'd be happy to go full-on Samus Aran and distributing big shots left and right.
IMO, that's what MCH should be, swapping between tools that locks abilities like Reaper's Enshroud.
The neat part is that it doesn't change a lot the rotation since Hypercharge phases are just exactly that, phases of 10 seconds where you use Heatblast/GR/R and nothing else.

1 Flame Jet Spray fire in a cone pattern while moving, burning foes on the final attack. Deals 10% bonus damage to burning targets.
2 Flame Blast Fire a napalm ball that rolls through foes and explodes.
3 Air Blast Push back foes and projectiles with a hot-air blast, burning foes that are already on fire.
4 Napalm Burn foes with a wall of napalm at the target location.
5 Smoke Vent Vent smoke from your flamethrower, blinding nearby foes.
hell the new spec for engi is a mech mode lol

i say it again we need another gunner class like Laguna FF8 and the ability to use more modern guns, i would like yoshi p to make shuch a class
