Quest Voiceover - .... difficulty reading and others have dyslexic

I have several friends who would like to play Final Fantasy 14 Online, but some have difficulty to read and write, - others are dyslexic. I myself read and write "normally", but I would love if Square Enix would implement the following:

    1. An option to select an 'easy to read' and 'easy description' of QUEST text in the game. The language today is on a level which in my opinion is above average, as dialect and slang are often used throughout the game's exciting history.

    2. A call to implement voiceover on ALL quests in this absolutely amazing game. There are actually a lot of people who can neither read nor write, but love to play games; - I work with these people on a daily basis. They would love if they could play this game without the requirement to be able to read.

Unfortunately, dyslexia is a taboo for many; - those who have it are both embarrassed and dare not tell about their "disability" to other people.

There is a special Launcher for XIV which shall not be named, that allows you to have an add-in that reads all the quest dialogs as Text-To-Speech, if that helps.

It would be nice but I think the cost would be insanly huge. There is a reason we don't have VO for all quests.

Thanks, but i know it. It's way to robotic - but better than nothing though. :-)

I've been so spoiled since playing ESO where everything is voice acted so going back to reading feels so dull and breaks my immersion.

With all the advanced technology we have today, you can actually - with quite a few people - and few funds, be able to make voices for hundreds of characters by adding effects. But it will probably not be done if the players here in the forum do not want to back up the proposal! :-)

Great so we have that by 5.5 then?

Did I not say it would be nice to have? I am in support for it but I'm also being realistic.

A TTS, sure. Actual voice acting, nope. This game has an extremely high amount of dialogue in four languages and adding voice acting means extra care has to be had for the lines, because the lines cannot be easily retroactively changed if there ever is, for example, a lore inconsistency. It would also be far too expensive, voice acting talent is not cheap, it's paid work. The industry does not work for exposure.

The reason it's not all voiced is because the quest text can change up until the last minute before release, and once it's been voiced they can't change it, so they choose carefully what is and isn't voiced.

I know that reasoning doesn't make sense when other games manage to voice everything, but it's the reason that has been provided in interviews and I suppose it could be a bit more complicated for this game because it has 4 localizations, so if there are changes it would require re-voicing them from 4 voice companies.

Would be nice to have but not realistic. I really want my voice actors to be paid fairly and there is just too much dialogue in the game, not to mention 4 different languages (6 if we want to include Korea and China). Voice acting, especially in Japan is not cheap, they hired some powerhouses that must probably cost a fortune to have around as the main cast. Therefore TTS is probably a more feasible option that I'm in support of.
