Looking for lower EU server pop?

Just started out on FFXIV with 4 RL friends. Started on EU Light, Phoenix but that is now a congested world and so we can't all get on there. Is there a way of seeing what the lower pop servers are?
We are just starting out, 3 will be on the free trial version so can't transfer but as we are just at the beginning it's not currently a problem. I know about the lodestone link that shows where servers are standard/preferred or congested but I would like to go a server that has a bit of free headroom so that we can easily create alts.

If there is no way (other than knowing someone at Square Enix) then no worries, we'll just have to wait a while until we can all create a toon. This just seemed the best place to start asking..

If it says "Preferred", then Square Enix would prefer people made more characters there. Standard has room too though.

If it shows a red icon beside it, character creation is disabled at the moment but this can change each hour. It gives you a good indication of which world may be popular right now but this can actually change a lot as the months go by, so you can't rely on an "less populated world" to remain that forever like in other games.

It's not that big a problem, because you can actually visit other servers on Light freely https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...de/worldvisit/

The main restriction with visiting is you can't join a Free Company on the server you visit, nor get a house. For linkshells you can only join cross-world linkshells, and you have to go back to your real server to check mail.

You don't need to create alts in this game because you can play all classes on the same character. The only reason you might create an alt is for roleplaying purposes. A minority of raiders do it to get raid loot faster but even most people who raid don't do that.

Thanks for the reply, but I've done a little bit more digging and it seems like the Twintania server was the last one added to the EU Light Data Centre and (according to Gamepur, who I'd never heard of before) has the lowest population and active players (still 7k which is fine). Tried to create a new character and the only two servers currently not congested on the creation screen are Lich and Twintania and when I chose Twintania I got the message 'New characters can't be created on this world at this moment"...
So it appears Europe is just full. We'll wait.

I had seen Utube videos talking about one toon can do all jobs, but we'll be a static group and if say the tank can't make it one week, I'd like to have an alt to step in (as I have much more free time than the rest of them). I'm also not sure about the personal and guild (free company) storage in this game. I play 2 other mmo's off and on, and in one of them I have a LOT of bank mules :-)

If you have trouble making a character and it's a Standard or Preferred world, keep trying, especially at night time when people are sleeping.

The raid loot is a treasure chest. When you open it, it gives you a piece of loot for your current class. So, let's say you don't normally play a tank, but you switch classes to a tank for this week and get some loot. You can redeem that loot on your main class (such as a DPS or healer).

35 Armory Chest slots per equipment category.
    140 inventory slots.
    140 chocobo saddlebag slots.
140 additional chocobo saddlebag slots if you subscribe to the companion app (costs money).
175 slots from a free retainer.

400 slots in the Glamour Dresser specifically for gear.
Each retainer allows you to sell 20 items, but you can sell them for the maximum amount of gil, so that gives you between 40 and 200 extra slots.
You can obtain most quest, holiday and achievement items again for 1,000 gil from a Calamity Salvager, or put them in your Armoire.
You can obtain most other items again by buying or crafting them again or looting them again, which for most items, is very easy.

When you say alt, its unclear if you mean a second character so you can cover both the tank and your normal role at once or if you just mean you covering for the tank. If its the former, youd need 2 accounts and raids arent really set up with multi-boxing in mind. Often each member of the team will have mechanics they need to deal with at roughly the same time, and if this is for savage raiding messing up some of those mechanics on one character will wipe the party. But if its just you being able to sub in for whichever role is most needed, thats easy. The game allows you to unlock all the jobs starting at level 10, and there are enough parallel gearing tracks that you can have several jobs at an acceptable level with a bit of effort. Getting multiple jobs to BiS levels is harder, but doable if you have enough time.

Sorry for the delay in replying, I wasn't expecting any further responses.
Thanks for the details on storage, that is partly encouraging, though I don't like having to pay extra subscription for continual additional storage.
And I was meaning separate alts to sub in, no multi-boxing for me. I have the reaction speed and dexterity of an arthritic sloth, so one toon at a time is more than enough ( and savage raiding is way out of my league :-) ).
I plan on keeping one toon just for this static group for as long as it takes for them to decide yea or nay on the game, and at least one alt for me to explore more of the game on my own.
