Fate are fun. They are like a gold rush type of event that offers quick content which can be chain cleared. I enjoy playing through them.

However, the scaling is incredibly broken in many instances. While I was in the Zadnor front, Fate wouldn't last longer than 5 seconds, barely allowing anyone to experience them. It is an issue that can be fixed by changing Fate scaling to scale based on the number of player participating directly and actively in combat throughout the duration of the Fate.

Example: A fate has a monster starting with 100 hp, player 1 arrives and hit the monster for 10 hp. A second player arrives and hit it for 5. The monster Hp is now 170. Same percentage, simply scaled to the active number of player. Thus, no matter how many people participate, the experience remains the same and is tailored to be fun whether alone or in a group.
