Can't wait to watch him do raids!
I agree completely with the first set up using Steam. but I dont know if thats on the Steam end or SE, either way, it was a bit of a journey to set up the first time.
I have to admit, based on some of his reaction videos before he started playing FFXIV, I was not looking forward to him joining and I honestly thought there was no point and that he would hate everything he saw and just bitch and complain about it all. I thought he would skip every cutscene, not read anything, and soon quit after calling this a "weeb game" (well, maybe not that specific term, but heavily hinting that the game was for weirdos or something).
It's actually been really fun watching him play, and I am very pleasantly surprised to see him enjoy it so much. I'm still not really loving his "stream persona," and it's cringey how he feels he needs to proclaim "big dick damage" on bosses and act disgusted anytime a lala appears on-screen. But, I get there is more to him than that underneath the hood. He was actually quite well-spoken in this video. I really appreciated it!
And yeah, the Square Enix website is an absolute dumpster fire. Any time I want to re-subscribe or un-subscribe, I feel like I need to look up a Mizzteq guide video. I actually have a friend I was trying to convince to come back and play for a bit, now that the free trial goes all the way to 60 and includes Heavensward. I think he was sincerely interested in jumping back into the game, but because he already technically owns a retail version of the game he bought years ago, he is ineligible to join as a free trial player. I was supremely disappointed to hear this, and yet I am not surprised as it seems like an iconic "Square Enix" policy in action.
Yeah...SE needs to get with the times on this one. Even the Mogstation and FF XIV Online Store could use a LOT of streamlining. I get that they wanted to have some added security, but I shouldn't have to log in 2-3 times just to purchase some dyes. Or an outfit. Or...anything.
Side note, he looks and sounds like a brand new guy. Apparently FF XIV can restore hairlines. But honestly, he seems to be understanding why players enjoy this game, and that is great to see. I really didn't expect him to enjoy it as much as he currently does. It's probably a breath of fresh air after dealing with WoW lately.

There should also not be different buttons to where to add keys, and different keys for pre-patch/launch.Yeah...SE needs to get with the times on this one. But hey... square took years to fix their retainer page so that it didn't state that you got 2 additional retainers for free implying 4 free retainers in total.
Very good vid.
Very entertaining. I like the way he injects humour keeping a straight face while I'm LOL.
He is actually teaching me things that I skipped or flipped through. I guess it's better having someone reading the many pages of text for you then ploughing through them yourself.

That is a good video and I thought he made well thought out points. He is absolutely bang on the money about how hard it is to even get into the game. I'm trying to get my brother into the game and trying to explain to someone who has never dealt with the mog station how to navigate it is a royal pain in the ass, even over voice chat. I nearly had to drive over to his house to do it for him as we were wasting so much of our gaming time messing about with it.
He does really seem to have enjoyed dipping his toe into our world and I think it's great to see, his steam persona isn't for everyone but it never will be I guess and I sincerely tip my hat to SE for how they dealt with his harassment, it's nowhere near as bad as it was on day one. He seems to have realy tried to give the game a good go, reading all the quests text, watching the cutscenes etc... and despite what many thought didn't come in with a hater attitude.
I am not really a stream watcher to be honest and I did think it was going to be an absolute mess him streaming the ARR quests but he has made it entertaining so fair play to him, I'm looking forward to more of his streams and that's something I thought I would never say as someone who doesn't usually watch streams.
I'm so glad he likes it both as a fan of his streams and this game.
Also happy he brought up the pain of steam and mogstation, for a new player I can understand it being a pain in the butt while for us seasoned with the system don't think to much of it but it could use some rework for sure.
I mean at least it isn't Playonline from the mid 2000s that some of us oldies remembers.
