Hey I’m new wanna ask some stuff and share some things

I joined the game last week some time and I’ve been playing non stop before all the stream hype basically I was bored saw it advertised on PlayStation so tried it and as a long time mmo player I’m hooked right now I have had some good some bad experiences.

Firstly I’ll add I have swapped over from world of Warcraft which I have played 16 years in my prime I was raiding server first content in tbc and wotlk expansion then went semi hardcore after mainly clearing almost all mythic raid unfortunately that game has become a race to the finish with non stop grinds and I’ve lost my love for it and needed a fresh breath

1. The community is amazing so far I have had some bad apples like telling me to skip cutscenes in dungeons then just plain killing a boss why I’m enjoying cutscene then saying git gud. This is common in wow so I expected it a bit but I have met people that literally spent 50 minutes explaining things to hot bar and ui customisation menus which can be kinda confusing on controller I never expected this at all.

2. How is the end game how accessible is it I want to raid it’s been my life in wow for longer than my daughter has been alive haha which btw I’ve pulled into the game hahah can I get the best gear doing pug content or is it locked behind extreme mode which would maybe require a set guild group

3. So coming from wow I have noticed I’ve gone from 7 buttons to well ALOT of buttons to do effective dps rotations however some classes I play have things like ruin 1 ruin 2 and they don’t swap back to old ruin when my dungeon procs so I have to alter my bar as some spells are out ranked is there a way around this ?

4. Now this I feel wow does better and it’s a system I loved in wow for crafting I could craft from my bank however I can’t craft from chocobo satchel and retainers inventory is this a feature that may come to game as I can’t buy new bags or seem to increase my chocobo bags unless I’m missing something and after a hour of farming mats my inventory is to full to actually craft so I find myself running around a lot just gathering my own stuff from multiple places

5. This is a big one for me is there any plans to increase armoury size I’m a bit of a altaholic and well this is so damn alt friendly it basically begs u to do everything especially when cooking but I’ve noticed I can only carry 35 items in weapon bag thing and it’s filling up very fast and if I wanna store the relic I got I have to take up a spot on my retainer multiple as I plan on trying to get a few of them for glamour but I feel limited to my armour size

Many of your questions will be answered as you progress through the main scenario quest and get comfortable with the game, but--

High-end content (ultimate/savage/often extreme) is usually done with a static party, not always a guild. In most cases in this game, your "guild" is a social selection, rather than your raiding team. If you'd rather not go for either, pickup endgame does exist -- especially with extremes -- but you'll need to do some homework to get reliable clears.

Abilities should automatically replace themselves on your toolbar if you have the base version slotted both as you go up in level and as you sync down. I strongly suggest looking up your rotation so you won't miss an important base spell. Some spells are intended to stay on your hotbar and function as unique spells even though their naming might suggest they're a replacementk (ex: fire / fire II).

Crafting inventory management is an art in itself, and unfortunately there's no craft from bank option. Good organization is a must, but /isearch can help you locate items that might go missing.

Armory size won't really be increased in size, so be careful what you carry around. Once you outlevel a weapon you need to sell it as you replace it or store it in the glamour dresser. Don't keep ten spears in your armory chest; you'll run out of space.

2. Extremely accessible. You don't needa guild for it, you can either just pug it all or find a static.

3. ruin 1 and ruin 2 are completely different spells. End game they become ruin 3/(ruin 2 or 4)

4. You don't actually need that much material. Just throw them away or sell in mb

5. Yeah this game doesn't do transmog well... You can either store them in the armoire/glamour dresser/save them in a glamour plate or just sell them and buy them back

Not sure all are one was level 80 with very nice weapon very shiny haha but yeah my worst fear is the community from wow comes here and ruins some of the experience as I have came here for freedom from it.

I like to believe I was above average in wow but if I saw some one underperforming or making mistakes I always did my best to help them improve as polite as possible as just say you suck get good doesn’t help any one I never let my raider IO or raid experience change my behaviour to have a god complex which unfortunately you see a lot now in wow.

But I spent 16 years there and well I don’t wanna bash on it as it was an amazing game which I will never forget my great times there now it’s time for a new era for me

Not necessarily; there's alot of XIV gatekeepers & plenty of bad apples here who attack refugee WoW players. I've seen it enough times.

WoW is an entirely different MMO- From what I've experienced, Blizzard is all about that quick sell & doesn't understand their own playerbase. The story is basically 'you saw it happen, but you aren't the main character' They care more about selling mounts in a shop & I'm half joking when I say the devs don't play their own game because they don't get paid enough to sub to it lol

But, It's a quick assumption that all WoW players only care about raids & add toxicity to other games but that is typically why XIV players attack them.

FFXIV is more about personal experience, glamours, the story revolves around you, The devs actually play the game, they listen to their players & not everyone cares about raids or ultimate trials- there's a little bit of everything for everyone- but the game hopefully, will never be endgame raid only focused.

I read somewhere that Zenos is a reflection of that toxic type player who always wants the hard content, complains when he completes it too fast & sits impatiently about endgame content while doing nothing else the game has to offer.

This is something that really worried me, I played WoW since 2005 and I've seen more than my fair share of toxicity from that community, I've been concerned that asmongolds fan influx would increase the toxicity but then I remember, he'll get banned if he starts acting like a dick as will his fans, different rules here that are actually enforced, things should be okay, report the assholes and there's a good chance it's bye bye for them.

1. When I play on my alts I find it sweet that people try to explain mechanics to me since I get the little intro cutscenes. If you wanna watch your cutscenes, enjoy your cutscenes dude.

2. YMMV. With endgame stuff pugging is harder than static groups, but even on a non-raiding centric DC I have not had trouble finding groups for learning/clears/farms.

3. We have a ton more buttons than wow. imo its a little clunky but you get used to them over time. At current endgame summoner is the only class I feel has too many buttons, hopefully next xpac sorts that out.

4. Inventory space and managing it is a thing that you just get used to. When I know Im going to be crafting a lot I clear out my inventory. Stuff I know I want to keep goes into my retainers. Gear I don't need = grand company turn-in seals. Things that can be sold = mb listings. Junk gets tossed as soon as I get it.

5. If your glamour is taking up real estate throw things you use/plan on using into the glamour dresser- you can find one in every inn room in the main city hubs and it holds around 400 glamour items. Its not a perfect system but it cleaned up my inventories/my retainer inventories so hopefully it'll help you out.

It worries me to as a wow refugee I don’t watch nor like azmongold and honestly I came to this game with no expectations as all I knew was it failed and was trash game as that’s all I ever heard and boy was I badly informed so far every day I’m discovering something new or fantastic the mount I have already look awesome and I only paid for collectors edition upgrade

People in this game when I joined welcomed me and I felt like I belonged but I don’t want people to tar every x wow player with the same brush I joined before the influx of wow players I think literally was bored of wow sat on my PlayStation and a add popped up saw free trial clicked and never looked back informed my guild in wow I was quitting the game for 9.1 so they would need to replace me then all of a sudden I was watching a girl you tube channel nepza or something and azmondgold appeared and I was like oh no. And after a hour or so belluar a very popular wow streamer had it up saying it was great

Felt followed lol stupid I know but it honestly felt like after leaving the game behind all of a sudden they all started appearing lol
