Krile’s Blessing of Light/Crystal of Light

So I was recently watching some playthroughs of new players going through Heavensward and Stormblood, and I noticed that in 3.1 Krile states (at least in the English version) that she has the Blessing of Light in addition to having the Echo, and credits the Blessing (or both the Blessing and Echo) to her surviving the Isle of Val disappearing. I had forgotten about that factoid, and since that presumably makes Krile like Ysayle and Ardbert and his companions (i.e. individuals who have the Echo and Blessing of Light/a single Crystals of Light), I’ve been trying to remember if Krile ever directly shows us in game (or other official media) her own Crystal of Light or if she had one but lost it? (I know she utilized Matoya’s Crystal of Light but that was one Matoya was given/found a long time ago, but Matoya didn’t manifest it herself IIRC)
    Any inputs/answers to this inquiry?

She's never shown a crystal of light of her own, nor discovered one (other than Matoya's).

You can have the Blessing of Light without ever gaining a Crystal of Light though (or Crystals in our case) - the Blessing is the Mandala you appear on when speaking to Hydaelyn through the Echo, not the Crystals - the Crystals merely act as enhancers that power the Mandala (and thus the Blessing) up. Being granted the Blessing of Light allows someone so empowered a direct aetheric hotline to Hydaelyn Herself and allows the Mothercrystal to step in and interact with that person directly even when the Mandala is 'empty', but aquiring the Crystals of Light as well and filling out the Mandala enhances the Blessing further and empowers it more than it otherwise would. It's amazing enough to gain one Crystal on it's own, rare to get multiple of them, and practically unheard of to fill out the Manadala entirelly with all six of them!

But we're shown plenty of people being given the Blessing (at the same time the player is given it, they're those other 'adventurers' you see flying around the Mothercrystal before you), and presumedly many of those never gain Crystals of their own - Krile is probably one of them.

Hence Krile has the Blessing, but no apparent Crystal of her own (at least, none that we're shown to my knowledge, other than that one from a previous Umbral Era which is apparently "more pure", although Krile never elaborated on exactly why that is).

Also note the player's character is not awoken to the Echo and given the Blessing of Light at the same time, these occur at different times, with the Echo being granted first (you're awoken to the Echo immediately upon starting the game on the chocobo carriage/ferry to your starting city for a new player, or if you're a 1.0 player, you were awoken to it stumbling into your starting city before the Calamity), where as the Blessing of Light is given to you a bit later (around level 7-10ish, where your meddling first gets the attention of a black-masked Ascian who takes note of that development, presumedly to relay the information to Lahabrea).

Confusing matters is 1.0 players were awoken to the Echo back before the Calamity, and only now get granted the Blessing of Light some five years later, so that's a long time between drinks!

Apologies to Anonymoose for stealing your quote about the Crystals from another old thread, but it was so useful I had to make use of it again.

Ooooh I never realized that an individual can have the Blessing of Light without necessarily (or even ever) gaining/manifesting a Crystal of Light, I always assumed the latter was a requirement of the former. Good to know that clarification, thanks!

Because we've never seen the hypothetical "empty mandala", I'm curious which characters simply kept their crystals private if they had them - such as Krile and even Minfilia. It looked to me like the blessing of Light was projected through the crystal(s) as divine intervention, so I have SUSPICIONS, lol.

Line of logic: What if the mandala is actually the unique champion blessing (hence the six "sockets"), while we already know the blessing is not unique?

Counter-logic is that we usually see crystals of Light appear after a heroic act, and while many of our Echo-blessed friends are helpful and talented, did they follow-through on that level of "heroic act" at the "right time"?

@Enkidoh (don't feel like quoting. I'm using a bluetooth keyboard on a tablet and the touch screen stops responding soooo)

In the quest In the Eye of the Beholder, the reason Krile gives as the Crystal Eye being more pure (which is the wording Matoya used not Krile), is due to the fact that it was made with more of Hydaelyn's power than any of the Crystals of Light in this current age. Whenever Hydaelyn would give an Echo user a Crystal of Light she was giving off a "sliver of her power" SIC. (In English)

The reason I'm guessing that ours isn't as powerful now is because each time she slices away at her power she becomes weaker. Even now it's been since we got all of our Crystals back In heavensward that we've heard from her DIrectly and Indirectly through the Word of Mother when we sent Minfillia to the First to stop the flood or when she merges with... but i don't know if that can be counted.

I know I didn't add the figure at the end the last story update, while we all can pretty much guess that it was Venat/Hydaelyn that showed up to us as we were walking away and told us it was all up to us... It hasn't truly been made official and well I don't like making it an absolute until it is said it was her.

Ah, thanks for that clarification Rannie, you're right, I just couldn't remember the details of the quest in question it was so long ago, and I couldn't be bothered going back through my archive of screenshots for the relevant dialogue (I'm just a lazy kitty).

Either way, thank you for clarifying that.

Yeah no problem, I was just on Youtube watching it because I was trying to figure out what exactly had been said about echo users and Crystals of Light. Which still makes it confusing especially for us 1.0 players because we never had a Crystal of Light until 2.0 lol our Crystal Bearer title came from us delivering the Unaspected Crystal we got from Atomos ( ahh the joyful memories of killing it in the world or just sitting back and watching it wipe out RMT bots... those were the days *sighs in pleasure*) Yet Krile outright states that Hydaelyn gives her chosen warriors (IE the ones with the Echo) a Crystal of Light. Though that could have been a complete speculation on her part but... honestly, how often do we go pulling out our Crystals of Light to show people or use them? We've brought the Water Crystal out twice first time for one of the GC leaders after the Level 15 MSQ fight with the lower ranked Ascian, the Second time is when we summon Minfillia as The word or whatever of Hydaelyn for the Warriors of Darkness, then we pulled out the Lightening Crystal when we were talking to Ramuh. All other times the Crystals are shown in the "Mandala" after we pick them up, like when Middy seals them.

To aid and abet this... isn't the WoL the only one that was specifically told to go and seek more Crystals of Light? Like, that doesn't appear to be something that any of the other chosen ones are told to do after their heroics.

Further still, the acquisition of some of the WoL's crystals aren't mere manifestations directly to the WoL. We get the Thunder Crystal from the Sylph Elder, Frixio. We get the Wind Crystal by defeating Garuda, but directly from her bosom before she is totally defeated.

Of particular note is Frixio's dialogue in relation to the thunder crystal. Frixio holds out her hand and a vortex of electric arcs coalesces into a crystal of light floating above her tiny palm.

"When these ones summoned Lord Ramuh, these ones were gifted this crystal. This one would now bestow the crystal upon the walking one as a symbol of these one's trust."

Now what could that mean about other Crystals of Light?

We could easily chalk it up to what she said about "By thy deeds the Crystals will Reveal themselves to thee." Easiest cop out we could give. Pretty much like this: Us: hey look we just kicked Garuda's Windy Derriere.

Hydaelyn: *shrugs* Meh works for me we'll call it my power! *lazily flips to another page in her magazine "Cosmospolitan"*
