Black Chocobo Twitch Campaign: Alternative Acquisition

While I understand this is supposed to be a way to "support your favorite FFXIV streamer," but this is an oddly exclusive acquisition method. I know I (And a few others), do not watch and/or use Twitch. If anything I may catch a few highlights on YouTube after the fact; however, in my day to day life I'm unable to make time for a live stream. Alternatively, I feel like SE and/or Twitch is banking on the fact that you won't remember to cancel one of the four subscriptions that you need in order to obtain the Black Chocobo mount. I would be more than willing to just pay the $20 dollars on the Mogstation outright, instead of backing a service I can't/won't use.

I would appreciate if you took this under consideration, and henceforth put a primary and secondary method in which to obtain exclusive items that involved subscriptions.

I'm not a fan of twitch myself, but I do like mount collecting so I decided to participate.

You don't need to subscribe to anyone, you just have to gift 4 subs to others. I went to one of the valid streamers and used the "gift to the community" option to gift 4 1 month subs to random viewers on the stream. It's not a recurring payment.

Thank you for clarifying about the not recurring thing; from their own images about the campaign the only option they show is 1 month/recurring. At the same time; it's slightly moot if I never am able to catch any of them streaming.

It's specifically the 1-time fee gift subs that count for the campaign. Subscribing yourself (the recurring payment) does not count. If you did happen to subscribe to someone though, you have the ability to go to Subscriptions > Edit Subscription > Don't Renew Subscription, fill in a bubble for the reason and click "Don't Renew Subscription".

You (as in "you as US players") already had an alternative method to get the mount last year, it was a (US exclusive) amazon promotion. This twitch promotion is actually a thing to get the mount to the rest of the playerbase that are not based in JP or the US.

It doesn't take much to make a Twitch account, and $20 is $20 whether it on mogstation or a streamers channel, and some of those streamers absolutely deserve it. If you don't like the idea of giving more money to a big personality like MrHappy, consider one of the smaller participants such as MissRogueFlame, EthysAsher, InochiFantasy or Hupo.

And I would have preferred a mogstation variant over Butterfingers which are only sold in the US but then that wouldn't be a promotion would it.

Sure but this is a item that was offered for NA a long time ago, it should been added to mogstation now.

I mean, in both cases, you're spending the same exact amount of money (or maybe less in this case, depending on the country, since Twitch actually has regional pricing) so, which is the problem?.



Honestly i just wanted the mount, so i just selected one of the names posted in the lodestone (since i don't know, or care, who the hell those people are), checked that the person was online and steaming FFXIV, and paid the 4 subscriptions. Got the code right away, and used it in Mogstation. Simple
