An interesting read for anyone invested in WPVP, or for FFXIV devs- check out the WoW forums/reddit for threads titled 'Testing Same-Faction Battlegrounds in Burning Crusade Classic'. It technically is about instanced pvp, but it's heavily effected by wpvp balance, and most of the discussion in the threads is regarding wpvp, which in wow is opt in.

Consider the insane vitriole, hatred between factions and the developer that all stems solely from wpvp issues.

I don't think SE can do wpvp well (I actually don't think any of the developers that focus on it do it well either)- they can barely do instanced pvp.
