They said that's what they're doing with the new PVP mode for Endwalker.
He can offer feedback, and it would be added to the ever growing list of feedback that the FFXIV devs have. That doesn't mean the devs should align the game to him. It's silly to think someone with the experience of a decade in another game can't offer feedback that could improve this game. So yes, XIV should change itself to be more in line with what someone like that would think, carefully, because it should be the best game XIV can be for everyone and not just a very cordoned-off niche that has happened to find their perfect place.
That mentality of ignoring the outside world is what gave us the disaster of 1.0.

So in your perceived value structure, changing the way the entire overworld works is exactly the same as another compartmentalized piece of content being added and deserves the same "a few people asked, maybe we should do it" attitude?

"Discount Stardew Valley" is just letting every player have something that currently only people who own houses can have. Having open world PVP gives many people something that they have not asked for and have no need for and have no advantage and gain no advantage from.
Open world PVP isn't really casual friendly. In fact, it's really no one friendly. I'd rather they never even consider adding it to the game. It doesn't have a place here.

The issue wouldn't really be with his level of experience, but rather with whether or not his clout would grant his opinion sway. Even people with loads of experience have terrible opinions and ideas. There's no certainty that just because an individual is experienced that they know what's best. It's silly to think someone with the experience of a decade in another game can't offer feedback that could improve this game. As this game has PvP, I'd like to see it improved and further expanded (small scale PvP being added EW), and open world PvP could be a great addition to our PvP lineup. As they seem to like to experiment with casual content (Farmville come EW) and other things like Bozja, I don't see why this can't happen for PvP content too! I'd like FFXIV to be at it's best, and prove it's worth as the best mmorpg.

This is really funny to see many comments for PVP using biaised arguments to uphold gank and GK.
As everyone know gank and GK is what make a game fun and successfull... And it doesn't lead to toxicity at all.

Look, I like the concept of Graveyard Keeper (now with reaper being added) as much as the next person, but, as I don't craft, I doubt I will see much use in that kind of content in this game. Frankly, I doubt I will even touch it. Now with the inclusion of male viera, there looks to be quite a bit of casual oriented things being added to the game. I just don't see the problem with PvPers getting a bit more of a focus for once.
Open world PvP would be a great addition for players, I really don't see any drawbacks here. Just fun.

It would only be a great addition for PVP oriented players who specifically want Open World PVP. A lotta resources for just that little smattering of people, and since there's a snowball's chance in Abrahamic Hell that they'd add it to every server, it'd have to have its own dedicated server. The request is too steep of a price for too little pay off. Reworks to and new additions for the FFXIV style of PVP that we have are just fine, but something like open world is entirely unfeasible. Say they did add it. What do you think happens? It likely will be a poor imitation compared to what the people who wanted it expected. This then drags on the reputation of the game. Then comes the improve Open World PVP threads. Then the expand Open World PVP threads. Then the disappointment when both of those take years to even get a tiny bit of dev time. It's like asking to be disappointed for the next decade.Look, I like the concept of Graveyard Keeper (now with reaper being added) as much as the next person, but, as I don't craft, I doubt I will see much use in that kind of content in this game. I can't honestly speak to the success or failure of Farmville yet, but it's going to be implemented for everyone. If you don't want in on it, that's on you, but it only provides advantage and reward while also addressing a long time issue with the gardening in the game.

I've heard murmurs it involves our minion collections in a way. So maybe they'll do the farming?
