I'd rather get passed around in prison.

If it didn't incorporate important actions, then why the need to level another class? And if you don't need to level another class, then why have the system? People are already leveling another class of their own choice, and increased job customization could lead to balancing issue and unnecessary design complexity as jobs are changed through the expansions.
I think Yoshi P had a response to this: Nightmare!I personally would love to experience the 1.0 storyline. I am not saying it needs to be a completely separate mode, but I wouldn't mind it being folded into the New Game + with a Classic 1.0 option.
Not sure how it would work at all but would be cool to experience it.
i would like to try it at one point, but idk if i see myself playing it regularly like a game
As someone who played 1.0 from closed beta until the servers shut down minus a day or two before shut down due to adulting... Hell to the F*** no. While the graphics where pretty they were considered hell with some of the best graphics cards. Not to mention it catered to high end pcs and gave a hearty middle finger to the lower or even mid grade Pcs. Plus the fact that it had so many bugs to the game and the PRODUCER/DIRECTOR REFUSING to listen to the complaints. The maps were god awful copy pasted BS for landscapes or if you were the black Shroud you literally had to go around your asshole to get to your thumb to hit gridania or you'd be running into lvl50 plus mobs. The list goes on and on. Yeah 1.0 got better slightly with Yoshi P but there's only so much perfume that you can use to cover the stench of shit that 1.0 was before you have tobfinally pick it up and trash it.
Gameplay looked more boring than even the most boring bits we have today. If anything the game needs to go faster, not slower.
I unironically see myself playing it if they do release it the more I think about it.
yea sure, I hated it when it released but I'm not sure if I'll still hate it now in my old age. I mean I found myself liking movies, comics, and even games that I use to hate a decade ago only to later change my take on them giving them a second watch a decade later. Memories of those times are still locked in my head but memories are just that, your memories of those times. they're bias and tend to get foggy as you get older and as evidence in this very thread where you can tell users are split on those times with others just going by what Yoshi-P said about it.
I still strongly believe as said in my very first post in this thread that they should release it as it'll be interesting to watch others play through those days as well as providing a 'home' for those that unironically liked 1.0. which wasn't 100% awful as some might try and convince you, more like 65% at best in my opinion that is. which admittedly most of my hate for 1.0 stemmed from not being able to jump which really irk'ed me back then. Now though? I don't actually care about being able to jump in games which is a unthinkable stance for the me of 10 years ago.
well that's enough outta me, I can go on and on here but I'm just gonna go back to gaming.
if they release a "FF14 Classic" edition then neat and if not then bummer.
As a movie or something to see the story, I'd be down. But as an alternate server like WoW Classic? No, I'd have just as little interest in that as I have in, well, WoW Classic.
Agreed, I'm far more interested in the 1.0 lore than the gameplay - I've seen youtube videos of how it was and I doubt I would've even left Gridania. I also always wondered if Minfilia played a bigger role there, since she always felt like a focal, beloved character in ARR but, as the memes say, never really did jack
No, just no. That comparison does not fly here. The whole 'you think you want it, but you don't' is a showcase of Blizzard being out of touch. Of Blizzard blatantly ignoring the obvious.. that there has been, for years, a very strong demand for WoW as it was in the days of old. To the point where Blizzard regularly had to C&D classic WoW private servers. Blizzard didn't want to do WoW classic in part because they couldn't for the life of them imagine why people would want it.
WoW classic, the desire for it, was a desire for 'the good old days', people wanted, still want, WoW's golden age back. These are people who crave the nostalgia and who dislike where retail WoW is now.
You cannot compare any of the above with the FFXIV team not wanting to touch 1.0 with a ten foot pole. 1.0 was not a golden age of FFXIV.. we wouldn't have ARR if it had been a success. 1.0 was hot garbage, it sucked, it was absolutely horrible in all ways. It flopped, failed and died. ARR was created because 1.0 was considered beyond salvation, SE let Yoshida go ahead and rebuild the game from the ground up when he literally also gave them the option of 'i'll just try to salvage what's there', that's how bad it was.
FFXIV 1.0 classic won't happen because the very idea of it is complete and utter nonsense. What's next? They do as these very few people ask, get it up and running.. and then what? Do people actually expect Yoshi P's team to then try to start fixing 1.0 itself? I say again.. that is why we even have ARR, it was the chosen solution to the crisis faced.
Just about the only good idea I've seen this thread produce is for some way to perhaps include the 1.0 story into FFXIV as it is now, that, I would not mind at all.
