i kind of find it funny when people complain about exposition dumps, but then they also complain when things aren’t explained clear enough.

Those are different complaints, which likely mean different people are voicing them. If they're the same people, they may want a clear explanation without having too much exposition.

Why would you force yourself to do content you don't enjoy? It sounds really really foolish.

One possibility is if it becomes a prerequisite to another content, like the Crystal Tower and Ivalice raids.
