Ivalice may not continue

Major bummer.
Ivalice itself kinda made me interested in XIV since XII is my favorite although once I played it , it fell flat.

Mainly due to the characters there for the exception of Ba'gamnan crew and Fran.

Then Bozja hit the jackpot for me in terms of characters and story. Between Cid's memories, bozja lore, the 4th empire lore and even the Eastern alliance lore, it was honestly a nice change of air with MSQ Shadowbringer.
Of course it is not for everyone.

Lyon probably will remain one of my main favorites of XIV and I hope in some way he appears in EW, even mentioned at least.


(And sadly I wished they put the XII version of Gilgamesh in some form magitek/auracite in or the white Chocobo Trickster from the XII Marks, they were pretty memorable to me)

I'm of the mindset it's being used to set up the next thing that happens with the beastmasters and Noah. After all, there's a chance that the team may still use the characters in the future without Matsuno being there (especially if he left them notes on how he'd like to see it continue).

Firstly the field notes dropped several major plot points following the end of the story, including the actual liberation of Dalmasca and possibly-faked death of Gabranth.

Then this exchange happened on Twitter, where Matsuno said the side story was over and the plan for further content has "disappeared".

Ah, that explains it. I avoid Twitter and social media in general like the plague so I wouldn't know and I have only read 2/3 of all the field notes yet (I only read a few at a time). Thanks for the explanation!

Pretty much everything I liked about the game's lore is due to wrap up with 6.0 and the push to have every in-game nation and race conform to the same set of ideals makes for a rather dull and predictable low stakes story in my opinion.

For example, I really want to explore more of Hingashi but I don't want to see the Hingans lectured for daring to keep 'Ijin' at bay. So far, pretty much every nation we have visited has effectively been defanged and any grit eroded away almost completely.

Ishgard and Ala Mhigo included.

This right here is one of my biggest problem with 14. With how they make each nation feel same-y. Back when I'm still doing early arr, the three nations (ul'dah, limsa, Gridania) are interesting because of how different and flawed they are. Ishgard and Ala mhigo was pretty interesting too before we visited it. Only kugane that imo isn't really changed that much.

I'm not really asking for witcher 3 level of moral ambiguity, but seeing all these nations becoming goody two shoes is disappointing me. I hope this is just a case of them uniting against common enemy, and in 7.0 they will start having conflicts again.

I'm also not looking forward to see sharlayan get the ishgard v.2 treatment in 6.0, though judging by past records it's going to happen.

The problem is on the writers end, not the readers. I've played far wordier things than the Ivalice raids and loved them.

Agreed! Just saw this thread and it makes me sad…

FFT is probably my all time favorite game, and I absolutely love the world of Ivalice! I thoroughly enjoyed FF12, and learning that there was a tie-in to that story in this game is one of the factors that brought me here.

I’m still really excited for when I get to the Ivalice storyline, but knowing it ends… is a bit disappointing. >_<

If we are not going to Ivalice, I still wish we can see Lyon in the main story of Endwalker, given the situation that happened in Bazja. He was one of my favorite characters in the entire thing, probably more so than any of the protagonist support cast we had going through the content.
