SE: Please consider changing the crafting menu

During my time playing this game, there's one thing that has greatly bothered me every single time that I have to craft something that I hope SE can address at some point (hopefully in the near future). The issue is that once you've started crafting an item as one class, you cannot switch classes unless you close out of the crafting window. This system is extremely clunky and annoying to use, especially given the sheer number of items in this game that require pre-mats that must be crafted by a different class. Just to provide one example, let's use the Dwarven Mythril Planisphere (I just randomly selected an item, but there are countless others that you could use). This item is crafted by a Blacksmith, but requires the following pre-mats:
    • 2 Dwarven Mythril Ingots (BSM/ARM)
    • 1 Triplite (GSM)
    • 1 Enchanted Dimythrite Ink (ALC)
    • 1 Stonegold Nugget (GSM)

This means that to do this craft, you would have to select the Triplite and Stonegold nugget and make those as a GSM. Then you would have to close out of the crafting menu, stand up, switch to ALC, and begin crafting the Enchanted Dimythrite Ink. Once you're done, you would then have to close out of the crafting menu again, stand up, switch to BSM, and craft the Dwarven Mythril Ingots and then finally the Dwarven Mythril Planisphere itself.

It would be awesome if players could switch between crafting classes without having to exit out of the crafting menu each and every time. If you're trying to get some of the achievements (e.g., the Blessed [____]king's tools that require you to make 480 unique items as each crafting class), constantly having to switch classes like this and reopen the crafting menu takes almost as much time as crafting the items itself.

I just wanted to throw this out there as it would honestly be a huge quality-of-life improvement for those of us who spend a lot of time crafting.

This. Please do this, because having to go in and out of it just to change a job is...pretty bad. Most of the time, aside from Tools, Crafters all use the same gear unless you try and force AFs like you did again in Shadowbringers. On top of this, it would actually be beneficial if they looked at making Manipulation not be locked behind a Lv 65 Job Quest. It's very tedious to have gone through the leveling process from 1-80, only to not have Manipulation for making whatever you want from the Mastercraft VIII books. Can we please unlock that so Crafters don't have to suffer through the 1-50 process? Because that set of quests is still horrendous no matter how you look at it(Lv 45, 50, and 60 especially...)

The one's that preventing you from changing class is going into crafting position, not the menu itself. If you just open the menu, you can change class without closing it.
It's just that when you go into crafting position, then start your craft, you'd still be in crafting position after you finish your craft and the menu pop back on. You need to close the menu to get out of crafting position.
Perhaps SE could make it so that our character automatically get out of crafting position after finishing a craft and the menu pop back on. That way you don't have to close the menu to change to a different crafting class.

Yes I know that but the only way to get out of that position once you’re in it is to close the crafting menu, which is time consuming when you’re making a bunch of stuff because it typically sets itself back to the default screen when you reopen it (instead of reopening to whatever search or selection you were viewing when you closed it). Either way, it’s extremely annoying to use as things currently stand.

they should also remove shards/crystals/clusters as crafting mats, its a relic of 1.0 that is no longer needed in the game

But if you did all that, the vast reduction in annoyance might increase the number of crafters by a third or more. And then what would be the point of being a crafter, if almost everyone's a crafter? /s

But then we'd have people complaining about the constant sit down/stand up animations as we finish a craft and start a new one when repeat crafting, especially when that would lead to lost use time on expensive food/syrup. I get the subsequent consecutive crafts of an item started much faster than the first craft because my character doesn't have to repeat the sitting animation or lose time with a standing up animation.

I imagine this is going to be one of those areas where the community won't be able to agree which way it should be. SE has to decide whether the animation lock should be set to favor the frequent crafter or the occasional crafter.

As a frequent crafter, I'm not going to be in favor of a change. I'm losing a lot less time by having to go through the sitting/standing animations maybe 2-3 times an hour at most compared to what I would lose if my character was doing it every 30 seconds for 3 hours straight.

I don't see how the crafting position could be a problem, is it a question of tools? Because there is a change between off and main hand of the same job that could work as naturally when switching jobs.

    I think it's because you can't "equip a class".

You can equip a tool or equip a gearset, and you'll change to the associated class as a result, but those aren't universal things that can be put in the crafting menu for everyone.

Possibly they could create a system where you designate a gearset to be associated with each crafter and then the crafting menu can auto-equip that gearset for you.

For now, though, I think you might be able to switch classes without leaving the menu if you've set the gearsets to your hotbar. I set those up a while ago though I tend to forget they're there, so I can't remember whether you can switch while in the crafting menu or if it just saved opening the Character and Gear Set menus.

I craft a fair bit, and I must do it much differently since I , well... to be honest, I "plan ahead" I make a number of the finished materials ahead of time so the raw materials are not taking up inventory space anywhere. Then I just take out what I need for whatever items I intend to craft. this "making on the fly" concept seems like a huge waste of time and effort.
