Understandable & I can see why it can be limiting,
Frankly If I sign up for the role that’s the intended one in the first place & while it might be limiting for others I cannot control how others may feel

I've done it since 2013, i haven't been punished for it yet, although if a tall bunny lady wants to; i would not object. Can you still get by with just main-ing one job throughout the game without much repercussions? I am aware it limits versatility to switch on & off.
I feel the pressure somehow the “neccesity” to level multiple jobs but for me its far too much, especially how far I’ve grinded with gear wise & to redo the whole thing is mind boggling.
I am casual,
Anyone body else relates similarly?![]()

Back in the day it'd be a problem since you needed to level other Jobs to unlock cross-action stuff.
Nowadays nah, you'll be fine.
Hi friend! There is no need to ever level anything that you don’t want to, ever. If you want to try something different, other jobs are fun and play with different options that can keep things feeling fresh…. That said, especially if you chose Paladin, you will never need anything else- it’s a great solo job for the main story and can solo a lot of content unsync’d.Can you still get by with just main-ing one job throughout the game without much repercussions? There is no incentive to level more than one job unless you want achievements, more quest stories and mounts.
Despite having over 10 different jobs that you can level and a multitude of things making the grind fast, the content is designed in a way composition is nearly completely meaningless.
So yes you can do fine leveling only one job.

You have people with 1 max level job and crafting jobs.
Do you really need the community's approval to make your decision and their approval?
There are even some that do not stuff once 80 and do that craft and housing.
I think he was moreso asking whether there is an expectation put on you from other players like in your FC for example.
I can see why some people would wonder that.
I've never seen that personally.
Level what you like; play what you like.
Being omnicapable definitely has much more advantage but it’s -not- necessarily required to enjoy your gameplay.
Give it a try whenever you feel like to—don’t feel pressured to try things you don’t want to try.
I hope you enjoy your adventure in FFXIV![]()

Unlike WoW for example, the good part about XIV's job design being so static, is that it makes easier to balance, so the performance disparity between the "best" and the "worst" is minimal, and perhaps would only matter for groups attempting Ultimate fights.
I don't like that you explain playing one job as being "casual", casuals can still touch other jobs.
But yes, you can do what you want. A lot of players usually only focus on one.
