    Hey. Long time DRK apologies if this gets wordy and messy I just want to get my thoughts on dark knight while first impressions are still fresh in my mind.

    Disclaimer I’m only lvl 82 for DRK.

    There’s been a lot of ideas passed around for Dark knight and I’m not sure if I can add any ideas that haven’t already been said. But I think the question that I ask after many many hours of play is “at its core what is the DRK”

    Thematically dark knight has been the black knight archetype stand in, something dark but still heroic as a job. And it’s core has been focused on 3 things, being HP spend, damage dealing, and lifesteal. It got introduced as the mp spending tank it is now to mimic the feel of the classic job. Was really fun tank and I can still pinpoint the exact moment I fell in love with it. But after seeing so many changes it no longer feels like the class it was introduced as.

    It’s fine to play as but it’s not fun.

    Dark knight does not live up to the impression your given when introduced to it anymore. In a job actions trailer you can kind of assume what the theme of every tank is. Paladin is the holy protector so it’s got holy looking attacks, big shield for protection, and skills to match. Warrior you got a berserker so you prolly have some skills that make the player feel like a raging barbarian. Gunbreaker has an explosive sword gun so you think it has lot of damage.

    So then what’s dark knight? Damage mitigation? Lifesteal? Dps?

    Living dead is a fantastic idea thematically for the dark knight, but part of the reason it’s so bad is due to the high life cap and because the kit of a dark knight doesn’t fit the dark knight.

    Right now it feels like a tank that they’re throwing everything at that other tanks have and do better because they’re afraid of the DRK becoming a permanent fix to parties like it used to be in HW. But in their fear it’s become a tank that honestly probably going to get dropped when savage content comes because it can’t keep up to other tanks.

    There’s more reasons why the tank isn’t fun to play, animations, short combos, mp gage spending for skills that other tanks have for free and better.

    At the end of the day I just want my lifesteal dark tank back, or at the very least a tank that feels unique and lends itself well to the theming. The dev team likes to say they play their game and everything is subject to change but it feels like a class that is lazy in design by having the scraps of other tanks bolted onto it. Even things like the animations aren’t impressive compared to other tanks

    On a more hopeful note I do see a good rework in the future, or at least I hope for one.

    Man I just found out about the shared CD on CS and Abyssal Drain.

    why even waste a hotkey on abyssal drain now? One gives free MP, one does nothing.

    Agreed. At least set the CD of both to 30s so that average use of the two stays the same. It seems like they wanted to add a choice instead of just having the two be something you hit on CD, but it's not a choice, you simply use one on ST and the other against 3+ targets, like every other aoe.

    DRK needs some form of healing full stop. Having ONLY Souleater heal you during single target whilst all the other tanks have at least one form of ogcd healing FOR FREE is absurd. Leveling Dark Knight currently in the story and its rough I gotta tell ya. Maybe give TBN a hot on break, make delirium bloodspillers/quietus give 400 cure pot heal, or Carve n Spit 1200+ pot heal like Equilibrium.

    6.1 Dark Knight predictions:

    Blood spiller: Added 20 potency heal
    Quietus: Replaced with Stalwart Soul
    Salted Darkness: Now makes an underwater fart sound effect
    Enhanced Plunge: Increase <Plunge> cooldown reduction from <Unmend> to 6 seconds
    Oblation: Removed 10% Damage mitigation but reduced cooldown to 30 seconds so you can pretend to be cool or fun when playing

    Its obvious whoever's in charge of Dark Knight clearly doesn't understand what's fun. At this point I'd rather have Yoshida on job designs than whatever intern they have at the moment.

    There can even be hilarious meta lore to go with this Delirium Upgrade:

    After suffering years of feeling anger, resentment, indignation at the injustice of it all... You finally snapped and can mend wounds by sheer force of will. In your state of Delirium, all imagined thoughts of taking life from your enemies is made manifest by restoring HP 400 Potency for each Bloodspiller/Quietus landed.

    Bonus points for having flavor text comments every time Bloodspiller/Quietus lands successfully while under Delirium in the combat logs (so it's not too intrusive) "F--- You!" "F--- This!", "F--- you all!", "F--- my life!", "F--- Enhanced Unmend!", "F--- Salt & Darkness!" will appear between the skill used and damage number etc.
