Reaper Reaper thats what people call me.
Reaper Reaper thats what people call me.
All i want is for the Endwalker Relic's final step to not be such a downgrade like Shadowbringer was from the Augmented Law.
Like goddamn that Blade's weapon is just...ugh.
Hello everyone it's been a while !
What a wild ride it was to read all those posts, but so many interresting insight, couldn't wait to share my own (likely stupid) ideas.
I aggree that using Darkside as a ressource instead of a simple timer is a great direction to go to. It seems primordial to reconnect all of our ressources on a principle of communicating vessels.
Have MP skills generate Darkside, Darkside skills generate Blood, Blood generate MP (and some generating 2 ressources). Something like that.
Somewhere I saw someone suggest reinforcing Living Shadow's identity by having an ability to prolong its presence at the cost of Darkside, trying to keep it present for as long as possible with careful ressource management. This might be interresting, but I don't know if it really is a mechanic that has a place on a tank, which should already have a lot of other things to take care of. Maybe just have delirium extend Living Shadow's duration so that every other LS lasts like...10 more seconds or something.
TBN could be a joker that gives you back 1500MP or 25Blood when its effect fades whichever is the lowest, and another benefit when it breaks, maybe a CD reduction on Plunge ?![]()
I also strongly believe Dart Art has a place here, probably as a main DarkSide Spender, give it a 10 or 15s CD to avoid spam, but it HAS to be an active ability we trigger at will. Having it be a passive that we have no control over means any deviation in rotation (mechanics, or other) will cause issues on which skill we want it to trigger. I also aggree that it should rarely if ever be a pure DPS increase and more utility/defensive based. Adding life leech Blood Weapon, increasing blood generation on some other skills etc, maybe turning's Soul Eater's lifesteal into a barrier instead of a heal as a "pre-TBN" fix could be interresting ?
EDIT: Is there any reason Dart Arts version of abilities couldn't have their own CD too ? Like, Dark Art Soul Eater does more damage, but has a 60s CD or something.
Delirium, as said above, could increase Living Shadow's and Blood Weapon's durations/stacks maybe. In turn, Bloodspiller and Quietus would need a slight buff, increasing their mana generation (1500Mp each ? so full dumping blood gauge would give back 1 Edge/Flood, which would give 30s of Darkside, which could be spent on Dark Art and maybe some other skills. Living Shadow could cost Darkside instead of Blood, probably a substantial amount)
Shadowbringer and Oblation could work in there, maybe turn Shadowbringer into a weaponskill that serves as an alternative 3rd hit when Living Shadow is out ? This would reduce OGCD bloat.
Oblation being an upgrade to Dark Mind is simple but fitting.

Hate to say it, but I think the only way we can save the class is for a large number of it's playerbase to jump ship. I don't think they will see how disappointed players are with the class if the DRK mains just keep playing it through the bad. Been playing DRK since it's release and I had hopes for ShB to maintain the compelling gameplay but was disappointed. Then held onto your that they would fix DRK come EW, just to be let down again. They don't seem to have any interest in fixing DRK, so let's show them how disappointed we are.
This likely would work, but a large majority of players prefer the aesthetic of DRK over the other tanks, so many will play it regardless, just because it is their favorite aesthetic.Hate to say it, but I think the only way we can save the class is for a large number of it's playerbase to jump ship. I am optimistic that this Endwalker delay to Dec 3/Dec 7 will include Dark Knight updates to address the concerns repeatedly raised here:
"Due to overwhelming user Feedback about the underwhelming Dark Knight changes and ongoing concerns, we are replacing Enhanced Unmend with Enhanced Salt & Darkness: Each use of Salt and Darkness will reduce cooldown of Abyssal Drain by 5 seconds. We believe this will address the HP Sustain concerns. In Addition, Blood Weapon will remain unchanged 10 (9)s duration. Thank You!"
Already done. I've concluded with this job and switched over to Dragoon, later Reaper of course. DRK hasn't been itself since HW basically, I don't see them doing this job justice in the future.Hate to say it, but I think the only way we can save the class is for a large number of it's playerbase to jump ship. Aesthetics are a joke. You have a bit of purple with a few decent animations, overall though DRK in 5.0 isn't anything to write home about. It really isn't.
Once the normies touch- *sigh* I'll stop here.
Reaper is going to have a lot of stuff that classic Final Fantasy Dark Knight fans will want. Aesthetic, DPS, bitching armor due to sharing DRG gear, Scythe reminiscent of XI(also a XI Scythe Preorder bonus when you upgrade to CE), a true Darkside mode instead of a buff. I see a lot of Dark Knights dropping DRK for RPR easily. Also Bloodbath role action giving you true Lifesteal missing on Dark Knight on every GCD.
I played DRK in HW and SB but ultimately dropped DRK at 72 at the beginning of SHB and going into Bozja took it to 75 while experimenting with each Tank. End of the day PLD/WAR feel the best. GNB is fun when you DPS burst but otherwise is meh.
And for me Reaper looks very engaging to me with 2 gauges to manage that work with each other instead of against each other. And is more evil looking then DRK is.
I'm so hype for Reaper I've already farmed out 72-80 gear for easy leveling transitions and a full Cryptlurkers set to launch me right into Endwalker at 80.
I really want DRK to be better but after 6 years I haven't seen anything but nerf after nerf over the years. I pretty much dropped it in SHB but It'll be permanently shelved in Ednwalker onward. Pretty sad since DRK is what got me to try FF XIV at HW launch. That and GILGAMESH my fav FF character.
I remember how people used to put out thread after thread asking for a half decent Darkside aura, either similar to the one that they showcased during the Heavensward job action trailer or what Frey has throughout the job questline. They even teased at the idea with Julyan Manderville's darkside aura. It's nice to see that it wasn't ignored for all these years and that we're finally getting it on DRK 2.0.
Didn't they say that they were done with 6.0's job/balance changes and won't be doing more before release?I am optimistic that this Endwalker delay to Dec 3/Dec 7 will include Dark Knight updates to address the concerns repeatedly raised here:

Where is your quote from?
I thought the delay was about server integrity and additional QA polish.
