FFXIV - Opening up the world and side content

DEVs. Thanks for the hard work you put in.

As a long time player of FFXIV I know I feel differently about the world than new people do. I can't help but get the impression the open world feels a bit small and is sitting there doing nothing.

Can you guys assign one guy or two to work on the upkeep of these areas? In other words every X patch have some side quests pop up and move NPCs around, having them doing different things and generally moving with the times.

This doesn't have to be massive coding changes, and the quests and activities also disappear once a new patch rolls around and the zone's NPCs move on to other things. Kind of like unreal, if you didn't do it, you missed it. Now the fisher man with that side quest found someone else to do it and is in the middle of the ocean hauling nets as of patch X

I feel like I could log on to the world and just kind of see what's up while travelling you know? So it doesn't feel stale.

I’d rather, if they were to do this, they simply go back and work on the 2.x era zones to improve the new player experience as much as possible.

They had a great start with the pruning of the msq, but I’m afraid it’s little too one and done.

I'm not a new player. So I'd rather they do this. But neither is more valuable than the other. So its more like sharing ideas of what could be done. Just like a revamp of the new player experience could keep someone until endgame, neglecting people who've done it all could cause them to get bored and leave for somewhere else.
